They have a tile floor and a flat, hard ceiling. Still, they think it's cool to have a couple of people strumming guitars at a volume better suited for outside dining. It's impossible to hear conversation. I guess it's a good place if you are having an argument with your spouse since you don't have to talk. The food is middle of the road ok, certainly not bad. The complimentary bread is more like brown and serve rolls than what you are used to in an Italian restaurant. OK wine list. Good location and a pretty setting on the inside. Call ahead and be sure they aren't having live music and maybe it'll be ok.

I would give 0 stars if that were an option. We arrived at 7:05pm to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were seated, asked if we would like the wine list, when we said no thank you, he promptly left our table without asking if we would like anything else to drink or providing us with a menu. We enjoyed visiting while I tried catching the eye of any waiter, even raised my hand a few times to the bartender and another two waiters passing by, no one was at all concerned about our table (which was sitting practically in the middle of the restaurant). We had no idea who our waiter was so we could ask for service. By 7:45 the same man that seated us finally returned (Aha! He must also be our waiter!). He again asked if we wanted the wine list, when we said no thank you, he once again immediately walked away, he didn't wait to ask if we would like anything else (tea, a soft drink?), again he left no menu, no bread with the yummy garlic butter, no specials were described, he just walked off. There were only 4 tables occupied in the entire place and several waiters, so this wasn't a case of being busy. We then watched our waiter joyfully deliver a bill to the couple next to us, and check on the other couple that was finishing their meal, while he still refused to glance our way. We finally just got up and left. I was more apt to complain, my husband didn't want our special evening ruined by me getting upset, he thought it best for us to just leave. On our way out, no one came to intersect us in the lobby or ask why we were leaving. I have been eating at Milano's since it opened over 20 years ago, along with my entire family. Dear friends that eat there often gave us this night as a gift to celebrate our very special wedding anniversary. I will never return. The staff doesn't seem particularly concerned with service. I called the following day at 11:00am to speak to a manager and receiving only "The manager isn't in, you'll have to call back." No offer to take a message or ask how I could be helped. It was our anniversary, we picked a "special place" to celebrate, we were in a great mood, this experience slightly dampened the celebration as we now found ourselves driving around trying to find another place to eat. We ended up eating at Longhorn Steakhouse. Certainly not at all what we were looking for as far as dining quality or ambiance, but at least our waiter was fabulous, attentive and genuinely polite. And, he didn't have any problem offering us a tea or soda when we said no thank you to the wine list.

Milano's has been one our favorite places in San Antonio. We have visited at least once a month for the last several years. That will be no more. Friday last, not realizing that there might be problems with its being St. Valentine's Day, we arrived at about 4:15 and sat on the patio enjoying a bottle of wine. At about 6:00 we asked for the menus. We were surprised that Milano's was only offering a restricted menu with grossly inflated prices. There was only one appetizer, the Shrimp Milano, which appeared appetizing. There was NOTHING on the entre menu that we would order. Asking if we could order from the regular menu, we were appalled with the answer: "Sure...with an additional cost of $6.00 per item." We requested the bill for the wine and departed, leaving a decent tip for our waiter. Last Friday will be out last visit with Milano's. They are good but not so good as they apparently think they are. Joseph

Had an odd experience; certainly below what Milano's thinks of themselves. Ordered tea and one of the cups came with lipstick on the inside and outside of the melamine cup, meaning the cup hadn't been put through a dishwasher and may have only been rinsed off. Waitress was like, "Oh, okay," and did change the cup. She should have checked it before delivering it to our table. My wife got the spaghetti meatsauce dish, but it was mostly just the heavily salted sauce and perhaps 3 mouthfuls of actual pasta. The bread's too salty, too. IF it's made there, why all the salt? Butter for the bread wasn't garlic, but just plain, tasteless yellow. While Milano's wants to think it's an ristorante italiano, it's pretty much a standard fare wanna be.

I have to say I was rather disappointed in their food. Our server was very nice, but didn't seem to hear me/or understand me. I had to repeat myself several times. The decor was lovely, though. However when I was waiting in the lobby flipping through a magazine the manager, who I hadn't seen for the whole 10+ mins we'd be waiting in the lobby, came through and dimmed the lights. He even commented about not liking harsh lighting. So not only did he not acknowledge that we were waiting for someone to acknowledge us but he basically turned the lights out on us. We were there on a Saturday night at 7:30ish. The dining room looked full, but no where near packed. Would not go back, nor recommend. I only stayed because we were meeting someone who wanted to use a Groupon.

This was a super yummy place to eat. Soft piano music, candle lite and intimate atmosphere. The server was very prompt and our drinks were constantly refilled. Salad, breadsticks and pasta with your meal.

The food was not very good, My plate was supposed to be smoked chicken but it tasted like it was out of the can. My fresh made margarita was the worst I have ever had in my life. I can not recommend they and certainly will never return again
