I want to write up some city-states.  Is that a good idea?  That sounds fun.

Nations just seem so stale.  Known borders.  Explored areas.  Mostly farmland.  Whereas city-states can actually pull of the points-of-light thing.  And its sort of assumed that each city-state will be its own little microcosm of weird culture, whereas travelling across a singular nation, you expect a certain homogeneity.
