Recently went to a club night there and they let so many people in you could hardly move, was defiantly over capacity and the whole experience of the night was ruined by the venue putting so many bodies in.

In my opinion not as good as Supercube. Has a smaller selection of songs and feels a bit dingy. However there is a bar and dance floor in the venue as well as the private karaoke rooms so you can have a night out as well as a sing with your friends.

For a private function the Electric Circus is a venue which would spring to mind what with the range of private karaoke rooms on offer, however though the service was excellent we found ourselves herded like cattle into a tiny rather sticky room with benches around the outside. The glowing doors puts one in mind of a strip club and lends the night a rather seedy attitude.

This place is perfect if you're looking to hire out a karaoke room. If you're there for a night out, prepare to sharpen your elbows 'cause that place gets busy quickly. It's also home to an older audience. So no partying with 18 year olds... which is nice.

When it’s time to get on my sequined skirt and dancing shoes there’s only one place I go in Edinburgh: Electric Circus. This city centre club has a great space for dancing, with lots of themed nights. My personal favourites are the 80s and 90s music nights – these are so much fun. Electric Circus also has a number of karaoke booths, which are a great laugh, especially if there are a group of you all desperate to belt out a bit of Bonnie Tyler. Drinks are brought to your booth, so no valuable karaoke hours are wasted. The booths book out quickly, so I would recommend booking them in advance. There’s singing, there’s dancing and there’s cocktails. There’s not really anything else you could ask for in a night out in my opinion, and Electric Circus has them all.

If karaoke is your thing (it is mine) then the electric circus should be your first stop. They have several rooms each decorated differently where you can sing your heart out for as long as you want with only your friends having to suffer your singing. It is also fast becoming a great small venue for the live music scene in edinburgh with an interesting selection of new upcoming bands and some stalwarts of the scottish music scene.
