5 stars for the culinary artistry of Yakitori specialist, Master Chef Tomohiro Sakata at Kokekokko. He received formal training from Torishige in the Ginza district of Tokyo and was also a chef at Wolfgang Puck's Chinois on Main for 4 years before opening Kokekokko in 1988. Came back here a month ago. Food quality was still decent but the service was horrible because we sat in the back corner. - seats weren't comfortable - waited for the server and she also forgot one of my order - server claimed that she added discount on our check for paying cash (which was a lie) - another server told us we cannot get the discount unless we each spend x amount of $

Definitely a fun name to say ;) Great place for yakitori and beer! They also accept reservations as well. The name is reminiscent of what a rooster sounds like in Japanese, so everything that they serve is Chicken related. Thigh, breast, hearts, liver, skin, everything chicken! It's a minimum of 5 skewers per person and my favorites was the GIZZARDS and HEARTS. But I can just eat 5 skewers of gizzards alone and be content. We also ordered the Soboro, which is ground chicken on rice. Very flavorful. The seats, however, were uncomfortable since they were hard stools with a thin cushion on it. Maybe they don't want you staying there for too long. :P #FallForLA
