Hola mi gente, our Siembra, Latino Theatre Festival continues this week with “Xicanos with Guns!” This is going to be fun. It plays for two weekends so you will have plenty of time to see this one. It starts February 19th and runs through March 1st. “Xicanos with Guns!” is a humorous taste of life in the barrio-how it is changing, where it might be going, and the growing pains it experiences along the way.  Humor, a small amount of respect, and heaping spoonful’s of truth wrapped in a tortilla blend to cook up a story about the changing social flavor of barrio life. www.nhccnm.org

Hola mi gente, this weekend we will have two exhibits opening here at the NHCC and we are very excited. The second one is "Our Penitente Land: The De Aragon/Calles Collection" which will open on  Saturday, February 21st at 2pm in our History & Literary Arts Building. This exhibit is based on the private collection and original art work of Ray John de Aragón and Rosa María Calles. De Aragón. A unique exhibit that focuses on the little known role of women in this holy "brotherhood." Groups such as Las Carmelitas, Las Verónicas, and Las Auxiliadoras will be presented in retablos, photographs, paintings, and lectures as part of the exhibit opening. Also featured in the exhibit is the work of art photographer Craig Varjabedian, www.nhccnm.org
