Strategies for releasing a game?

The game development industry recently gave us a bunch of free game engines. #Unity3D , #UnrealEngine4  and #SourceEngine2  are now available for free, each under different conditions. That raises a question: are open source engines like #jMonkeyEngine  still relevant?

The short answer: yes.
