From a great friend in New Zealand and their State Insurance firm comes the funniest advert of the year. I actually broke out in laughter wearing my headphones here at work....Ooops!!!! But it is hilarious!

I know what would have broken their stride and slowed them down... walking into the downtown Atlanta wall 'o zombies from episode one, season one of The Walking Dead.

Insure that bitch! ;)

So Bush actually did know that waterboarding and the other "enhanced interrogation techniques" were actually torture.

When is the arraignment again?
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on Wednesday night explained a legal memo that advised the Bush Administration that so-called enhanced interrogation techniques were torture and therefore illegal. Wired repor...

Ray Bradbury is one of my all-time heroes.  He not only wrote some of my favorite science fiction ("Fahrenheit 451," "Someththing Wicked This Way Comes," "Dandelion Wine" and "The Illustrated Man" among many others), he kept writing right up until he died at age 91. As my great granddaddy used to say, "I'd rather wear out than rust out!"

OK, so now it turns out that nice people may have inherited that trait from their genes. Who knew? And all this time as a parent I was hoping it was something that could be taught. What are the implications for humankind? For humans-unkind?

There's an awful lot of us which is largely determined by genetics, including how we "reason." I forget where I read the results of a study which is showing most of us have the tendency to view "arguments" from our pre-arrived at positions and discount arguments for the other side. And that is why science is so damned important to the future of humanity.

Now, nice? I must have gotten a very recessive gene then, because the entire rest of my family consists of... well some interesting people. ;)
