A call to the Google+ community....

If anyone out there has a photo of me with Ansel Adams I would dearly love to have a copy. For whatever reason, I have a very precious few - and I know that when AA and I were doing workshops together there was a lot of clicking going around! smile emoticon

I am thrilled to be featured on the cover of the next Looking Glass Magazine due out on February 28. This image was from a photo workshop in Carmel, Calif. for The Friends of Photography, a very important organization founded by Ansel Adams.
This photograph is available for purchase through my website:

New blog on my site: Can the Zone System Go Digital?
In a word, yes! The Zone System (ZS) can be an integral and important part of any digital photographer’s workflow because it allows you to plan and predict an image’s tonal values rather than letting the camera make the decision. - See more at:

One of the fun things about digital is that some cameras are infrared capable without any modification. And because it is digital instead of film, we can now actually preview a scene before capture. We can now "see" light our own eyes cannot see.

Out photographing with a student this week in funky Madrid, New Mexico (the locals pronounce it MAD-rid... and is where Wild Hogs was filmed) The "mining museum" there is full of old machinery, cars and junk - lots of fun.

The Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite has just completed their listings for 2015 photo workshops. Check out my workshop for October 13-17, 2015! Open to film and digital, October is a wonderful time of year in Yosemite. The water is low but we have access to the wonderful high count try of Tioga Pass and Glacier Point!

Check it out!

Introduction
I am a specialist in the art of black-and-white photography as an artist, educator, and master printer.

My vision combines traditional photographic methods with today's technology. I worked side-by-side with Ansel Adams as his photographic assistant and was personally selected by Ansel to print his Yosemite Special Edition negatives.

I try to inspire professionals and amateurs to prepare their minds for the moment when light, beauty and chance, define opportunity.

Visit my website to see more photos and find out about my one-on-one workshops, field workshops, and more. You can also buy prints on my site, if you so choose ($50 and up).

Thank You,

Alan
