My Super Bowl Commercial
I do not have the millions of dollars it takes to buy a 30 second super bowl ad spot, which is a shame, because I think everyone watching the puppy and kitten bowls today would find it hilarious. I'm not really sure what product to pitch - probably toilet p...

We've been being assaulted in Austin by political commercials lately on the radio. They're all the same. Same voice, same accent, same gasbag, lying, political theater. It's maddening. One in particular struck me as very offensive. Let me ask you a question. We all hate our cell phone providers ...

I'm wondering - have you ever heard of anyone who is allergic to tea? Living in the allergy capital of the world as I do, I've met people with pretty much every type of allergy: horseradish, garlic, peanuts, capsaicin, pineapple - you name it. But never in my life have I heard of anyone with a ...

I just had the craziest dream. I dreamed I was writing this blog post - I meant to write it last night, so I must have been thinking about it when I went to sleep. Anyway, I was so excited that I was going to be able to include video I'd taken on my phone of this crazy, bright blue, wiggly horse ...

As you know - I pretty much didn't have TV from Nixon to MTV. If you don't know this story, you can read it here. When we did get TV, I had a lot of catching up to do. I didn't see any shows during their time, which is maybe why now I still watch shows (like Breaking Bad) a year or two after ...

It doesn't sound right does it? Now that I work from home I don't eat lunch out very often. It really has made me realize that lunch in cubicle-ville is more of an escape than a meal. Now I really have no need to get away bec...

Stamping - with milk? Yepper! :)
We are in round two of sleetpocalypse here in A-town. I went to the store yesterday and all the bread, milk, yogurt and eggs were wiped out in the pre-it-might-get-cold-enough-for-firm-rain panic. Then today, controversy erupted because one of our school districts didn't cancel school until some ...

I went to my retail church yesterday. (Whole Foods, for the uninitiated). Part of the reason I went is that there's something about their air handlers that filters out the cedar pollen. My brother in law is the one who made this discovery, and so when I'm completely miserable, I know I can head ...

I have been a customer since they opened, and my kitties have been Dr. Rafferty's patients since we rescued them at 3 weeks old. I was, and am, floored by the amount of time Dr. Rafferty spends petting and comforting the kitties at each visit before he examines them. I've never had more loving care for my animals, and I don't know what I'd do if I had to switch to another vet now - I'm very spoiled by how kind he and his staff are. Cats get so stressed during vet visits - nearly as stressed as I do :) and this makes all the difference in the world. I had my two kittens spayed here, and I had a stray who was attacked by a coyote that I brought in, and Dr. Rafferty treated him with the same compassion and care that he treated my two pets. It's an extremely clean office - which isn't always the case at vets, and it never smells. My only wish for this facility is that the landlords would let them care for animals overnight, but I know that's not the clinic's fault. As an overly protective pet mom, I can recommend Dr. Rafferty and CCAH with all my heart.

I had so many people recommend this for so long! I'm glad I stopped by this weekend - the food was excellent and the owner is charming and funny. The decor is BEAUTIFUL - surprising for this little strip center. We have a serious lack of good Italian food in this town, and this place is a wonderful little exception.

Normally I dread automotive work, but these people make it not just a painless experience but actually enjoyable! They are kind, polite, thorough and their facility is spotless. The shuttle service they provide is incredible and keeps me productive on days where I need work done. They even called me a few weeks after they did my brakes to ask me how it was going, AND I got a handmade card. I was in there today and there was a service they couldn't perform, and they called around and found me a shop that could. If they did laundry, I'd take my laundry there! :)

Fantastic salon. Love the little luxuries like the hand massage and scheduling my next appointment while I'm having my hair cut. Always friendly service and a great cut.
