With moments like the sample above, countless talk-show hosts have tried to unmask the human soul made raw by casual verbal slaughters in an effort to help us comprehend the life-long damage inflicted by bullies, malicious or stupid.
Marching onward into infamy or enlightenment, from Phil Donahue to Terry Gross, is a school of journalism better known as on-air confessional. Here’s one: “They made fun of my size so I feel ugly and awkward.” “But you’...

Og Mandino wrote, “You never know what events are going to transpire to get you home.” Local Sunrise Beach Reverend James Stacey would agree. Events have brought him back to Missouri where his great-great-grandfather, a fugitive from the Cherokee Trail of Tears, staked his claim for freedom.

A fine theme often made by writers, poets, and playwrights is: love conquers all to restore us to a one of our finest states: the state of hope. #AlGPics   #Tropes   #Rhetoric  #Literature
Is there any word as abused as love? Teens toss it to each other in passing. Men and women profess it whether they understand it or not. Poets and playwrights have written of it millions of times without repeating each other;...

Below is my review from several months ago. Today a different crew, Brian Tibbals and Timothy Rodgers, completed the year's work agreed to with an annual contract. They were conscientious and thorough. I'm fortunate to have had two different crews, both of which were excellent. We paid for a contract so that Stanley Steemer (SS) would clean our carpets for a full year and on the first visit, our ceramic tile. We decided upon SS after using a competitor several times and comparing the work to SS's. At first, we thought we'd made a grave mistake. The grout was virtually untouched, the crew rushed, one crew member moved a piece of exercise equipment onto damp carpet--against instructions--and left a stain, and one of the two crew members had to be instructed to protect my furniture from the now damp carpet. Mr. Stanley, in Kansas City, after several unsuccessful attempts to correct the problems locally, resolved our issues and the job was redone, completed correctly. Our next two carpet cleanings were just average; we decided never to pay for a year's contract again as the savings are marginal and the service less than spectacular. One problem we had was the crews rushed through the job so for the next to last cleaning, I asked for a senior crew and was promised one. Little did I know that scheduling has been centralized in Kansas City and that promises made there do not trickle down to local crews. Worse, the crews spend as much time driving long distances from house to house as they do cleaning because long-distance schedulers, unfamiliar with the areas, send them hither and yon to fill a 12+ hour day. When the crew arrived after 6 p.m., I asked how much experience they had; it could not be considered "senior" unless turnover at SS is extremely high. I told them I'd been dissatisfied and that I expected them to do an excellent job in spite of the late hour on a Friday. If they could not, I was willing to send them on their way and reschedule. They put in the time and delivered! These guys, Mr. Selby and Mr. Morris, were conscientious and careful. Instead of 40-45 minutes and out the door, they worked my 5 rooms and a couch until they were clean. I will request them again for my last contract cleaning. SS should know that these two represent the company very well.
