Great to know, thanks so much for driving this point home. How does a doctor check hydration levels? Is that with a urine test? And what is the treatment for UTI? I'm assuming antibiotics? Or is there something that we can give them as a prophylactic treatment?

Well said, Bob. I'm caregiving for both parents (blogging at http://unforgettable.live) and this was a SUPER important lesson for me. All my conditioning was working against me, and I had to relearn my automated responses. Now I calmly repeat myself as many times as it takes, and I like to pretend that I'm an actor on a stage, rehearsing the scene until I get it right. My father calms down immediately once he senses that I am answering him patiently, and not brushing him off with a quick, sped-up version. My energy dictates his energy. For my mother, this is a bigger challenge, because she has aphasia as well as Alzheimer's. It's so important for me to give her the time to express herself and not rush her. Alzheimer's World is a beautiful one, all we have to do is adapt and stay in the moment.

So cute! Nice motivation, too. I've been wanting to get into a knitting project myself, with a closetful of yarn that my Mom is donating. Thanks for the inspiration.

Gorgeous. Look at those poppies, too! Lavender is one of my favourite aromatic plants. What a wonderful way to spend the day, Sylvia. :)

Here's hoping that they are safe from humans. Thanks for sharing these photos, what a treat to live near such beautiful creatures!

Congratulations on your new home, Sylvia. I know what you mean by community being more important as we get wiser. I hope to find one soon when I head west....
