Everyone talks about the debt we owe to our servicemen and women injured in action. It's time to walk the walk -- they did. The Wounded Warrior Project provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life. If you want a meaningful way to say thanks to American Heroes and their families, visit www.woundedwarriorproject.com

Although Hinduism is one of the world's oldest religions, its tenets are surprisingly modern. Look at the Five Great Duties of Hindus:
1. Prayer and Study (Brahma Yajna)
2. Protection of the Environment ((Deva Yajna)
3. Respect for Ancestors (Pitri Yajna)
4. Help for Others (Atithi Yajna)
5. Protection for Animals (Bhoota Yajna)

The gesture (or mudra) of namaste is made by bringing together both palms of the hands before the heart, and gently bowing the head as one says "Namaste." The essence of namaste is the recognition that we are all equal, because we all have a spark of the Divine within us.

The American Legion is the nation's largest wartime veterans organization - serving veterans, community and country. Pictured below is Army Sergeant First Class Leroy Petry, who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor -- America's highest honor -- for his heroism on Memorial Day, 2008 in Afghanistan.

Go to the American Legion website at www.legion.org to hear Sgt. Petry tell his story.

More than 12 million people entered the United States through Ellis Island. They and their descendants represented one of the most valuable assets our country has ever received, and helped to make America what it is today.
