We are happy to announce that we are now offering a new category of vehicles for your trips to and from the Detroit airport (DTW), nights out and any other events or point-to-point rides in Metro Detroit and surrounding areas.
After a careful analysis of all available options we have decided to add the latest models of Lincoln Navigator L to our fleet. Offering comfortable sitting for 6 passengers and space for a sizeable amount of luggage due to the longer wheelbase, these new Navigators L are perfect to serve any Detroit Airport transportation needs. On the way to and from the Detroit Airport (DTW) one can still enjoy all the complimentary services provided in our luxury Town Cars including free WiFi, a selection of drinks and snacks and an iPad that can be used by our guests during the trip. Furthermore, the vehicles are equipped with an on-board DVD entertainment system which is perfect for longer rides or for families travelling with kids.
Although we envisioned the Navigators primarily as a great option for Detroit Airport transportation due to their larger passenger and luggage capacity, from day one they have been extremely popular for proms and nights out. These vehicles proved themselves as a great value alternative to stretch limos for groups of up to 6 people.
This new category is already available so if you need to reserve the Navigator for your Detroit Airport transportation needs or for any other events please call our operators at (248) 906-5712. They are available to assist you 24/7. You can also send any requests to support@motorcitylimousine.com. This email address is constantly monitored. The prices for the Navigators as well as the complete fleet overview will be published online shortly. All existing discounts and business account privileges apply.

In 2011, the last Lincoln Town Car rolled off the assembly line in Canada. When Ford Motor Company headquarters pulled the plug, it wasn’t really a big surprise for the American auto industry. On one hand, the Town Car and the whole Lincoln brand were for many years losing market to their highly innovative and creative competitors such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus etc. And even Cadillac. On the other hand, regular consumers of this vehicle were aging and getting a younger buyer in a showroom became an impossible mission.
However, here is another perspective, the one of livery companies. These guys, including those providing Detroit airport transportation services (as Motor City Limousine does), lost their (our) number one car in the fleet. For more than three decades this vehicle was the beloved child of all airport transportation providers. Yes, they are still in use, but those are the last ones and no more are coming. Or are they?
Ford-Lincoln announced that the new crossover Lincoln MKT is the official replacement for the retiring Town Car. Now guess what its livery edition is called? Yes, Lincoln MKT Town Car. Why so? Probably more as a tradition or to show some respect to the veteran. Or, maybe, to create greater interest for this vehicle among livery service providers, including those working in the Detroit airport transportation business. The truth is, Lincoln was struggling with creating higher acceptance for the MKT in our business. In reality, the Lincoln MKT Town Car and its grandfather Lincoln Town Car Executive L (last one was the ultimate livery edition of the discontinued model), are barely related. Except for the brand name. Despite the controversial design which was rejected by many companies, Lincoln MKT is here to stay. Today it is probably the largest and most technically advanced livery vehicle in its segment with prices more competitive vs. its foreign analogues. The last question is whether the new Lincoln will just be as reliable as its predecessor? Old Town Cars could easily go for 300 thousand miles without major repairs. Well, time will show.

It’s like in a movie, when you think that it is all over and the hero dies a heroic death… In the very last moment, right before the credits… You catch a glimpse of him reaching over the edge of the cliff and pulling himself up! Well, in our case, that last scene would be the front end of the new MKT Town Car showing up. Detroit Airport Transportation companies like Motor City Limousine hope there is a sequel to this story!

Last week, on March 27th, a new company officially came to the Detroit market to break the traditional paradigm of the limousine business. This company is Uber.

Uber has successfully launched its services in multiple markets in the USA and Motor City Limousine is happy to be its partner in the Metro Detroit limo market.

Uber has expanded the prearranged luxury transportation industry to include a limo-on-demand service. Do you need a limo to get from a restaurant in Birmingham to a club in Royal Oak? Or have you just arrived at the DTW airport and want to find an alternative to the virtual monopolist Metro Cars? Well, now your chauffeur is only one click and several minutes away from your pickup location! All you need is a smartphone and an account with Uber. The reservation process is extremely simple and you do not only get your driver’s ETA but can also always track his location and progress in real time.

Some Detroit limousine operators were expressing concerns that Uber would jeopardize their existing business model; however we see it differently at Motor City Limousine. Uber is not creating competition for us in our traditional segment of prearranged Detroit chauffeur services but opens up a vast untapped market of on-call, on-demand luxury transportation services. In the past, when you wanted a driver to pick you up within the next 15 minutes, your only alternative was a cab. Not quite a “luxury” option. Now you can have a professional chauffeur pick you up in a luxury sedan just within minutes! Isn’t it a nice upgrade vs. Checkers?!

Motor City Limousine is happy to be a part of this new experience and we encourage our clients to try Uber when you find yourself thinking that it would have been nice if a black car could drive you home from this nice restaurant… And you have not arranged for one.

We were recently analyzing our booking statistics and found some interesting results that we would like to share with you! Some of the findings are quite remarkable! For example, most of the bookings for St Valentine's Day were made just a couple of days in advance (if not last minute...) while we had a full book for the Detroit International Auto Show already in December last year! Cars over the loved one? Well, let's not jump to conclusions - maybe selecting a limo for the Valentine's Day is simply a more thorough process... Yeah... Even I don't believe that myself :)

Based on our bookings, we also came up with our own rating of the most popular high-end dining locations in Metro Detroit.
1) #1 Coach Insignia - Yes, this one is no newcomer to the gourmet restaurant guides
2) #2 The Whitney on Woodward - we have seen this place gain popularity very quickly in the last year!
3) #3 Morton's Steakhouse in Troy - I can only guess that this is because we have a very steak-friendly clientele! But honestly, it is a great place!

One final finding... The week before Valentine's Day was our busiest so far! Were people trying to pay their romantic dues in advance?!

We all know how much is being done to turn Detroit around. Everyone is involved – from state to private individuals. But Detroit is not the only hot spot on Michigan’s map. Take Pontiac – one of the oldest cities in Michigan established back in 1818. And there is a lot going on here. We can see this even by the number of limo reservation to and from Pontiac. We have just come across a new private project aimed at revitalizing Pontiac’s downtown - Lafayette Place Lofts. As this city is close to the hearts of several of us here at Motor City Limousine, we wanted to see what you think about this and similar projects. Will there be demand for lofts in the mostly suburban Oakland County?   Would you personally be interested in living in a loft?
