Polyalchemy does make some luscious filament. MicroCenter's $14.99 2.2lb spools are to good to pass up though. A nephew would love to have this (and a Batman bust I saw) so I might splurge. Check out +3D Maker Noob's videos. He's got some great prints with Polyalchemy products.
Has anyone used Polyalchemy filament?
I just can't believe how awesome it looks!!!

I could watch this for hours.... Until a glitch occurs. See 'Chip' laying on his side? If you're thinking about getting into 3D printers, get one from +Josef Prusa. I'm not sure if that's his legitimate account. Angus from +Makers Muse and +Joel Telling liked Simplify3d. The first rule is to tune your printer. $150 is spent on Simplify3D (which won't load on many Linux distros because of DRM). Put that money towards a proven winner.

If this is your 1st printer, get a Prusa. Slic3r will work well. I'm a printing n00b. I would swear Angus is pimping Simplify3D. +Joel Telling is more upfront though. I still can't buy that software is going to make a large improvement.

I'm thinking of kicking 50-100 over to +Nillabean on his Patreon to see if he would buy a cheap printer and how he'd optimize it.

I'm 10 pounds in. Prints are good. I'm up in the air between tweak the heck out of the cheap-o, buying a Prusa, or gathering the parts for a self-assembled.

I like the DIY idea because of size. I like the Prusa because of the mods. Check out GitHub. Prusa has been releasing Slic3r packages almost daily. That needs to be rewarded.

Does anyone know of any Prusa 'kits' that go outside of the normal sizes?

I'm satisfied with the prints I can muster from a build plate that's being leveled by an ink pen spring. Go for accuracy with a Prusa or go big(ger) with a DIY?

Getting close to something that isn't a reflection of the chosen test object. There will probably be a half spool of filament used just in calibration tests.

I saw Jack Link's Steak Bar in a Lee Priest video. Has anyone seen anything similar in the states?

Never got into Chicago Fire. This one seems more plausible.
