That  is probably the worst frog kick I have ever seen. Not really what we want people to be copying!

Awesome!
So many basking sharks have already been spotted in British waters that experts are declaring this the best start to shark season in living memory.

Hi All - here's a Club LSD update:

A big thank you to our members who came to the Summer Party at The Pilot. I think everyone will agree that Sally and Mike Hayes came dressed for the Commonwealth Games theme! Well done!

MAST Talk - Wednesday, 23 July!

As some of you will remember, we had representatives from MAST, the Maritime Archaeology Sea Trust come and talk to us at our April Club Night and it proved to be of great interest. I'm pleased to report that Jessica is coming back to talk to us on Wednesday, 23 July. The seminar will be held in the large classroom at the dive centre in Power Road from 7pm (with a 7.30pm start). Jessica will be on hand to discuss the course and to make arrangements for booking their PADI Distinctive Speciality course, the Basic Archaeology Diver. Please note there is NO pressure for you to book the course, you can just pop along and listen to the talk.

The Basic Archaeology Diver course is a no frills, no fuss course and aims to introduce the basics of archaeology underwater. One of the most amazing benefits of completing this course is that you will have the opportunity to a rare guided tour from the licensee of the 1691 Coronation, a protected wreck off Plymouth!

Please feel free to bring along a beer or two and a packet of crisps to keep you going although the usual tea, coffee and water will be provided.

Trip Update - Eastbourne has been re-scheduled!

Eastbourne - 2 August
Due to the weather on 5 July, the Eastbourne day trip was postponed and has been re-scheduled for Saturday, 2 August 2014. There are still space available so please contact Diz, the trip leader, for more information and/or to book your place. Remember, you can pay your deposit via paypal on ClubBuzz. The plan for this trip is a wreck in the morning and a drift in the afternoon with a home cooked pie in between.

Poole - 26-27 July - FULLY BOOKED

Brighton - 17 August
Our second day-trip of 2014 is being led by Claire Davies. The plan is to dive one of the many wrecks off the coast and then a fun drift drive under the pier. Don't forget to look out for the usual dropped keys, mobile phones and other lost items.

Farne Islands - 22-25 August
Our final "beginner" trip for 2014. The best and easiest dives in which you will see seals, seals and more seals!!! The most playful seals we have ever found live here so prepare to have your fins nibbled and your SMBs chased. A Bank Holiday spectacular not to be missed with Farne Divers. Trip leader is Mark McDonald.

Cornwall - 19-21 September
Head down to the Manacles for the best vis you'll find off the south coast and reef dives that will make you forget this is England. Price includes 2 days boat diving with Porthkerris Divers, 1 day shore diving and 3 nights B&B accommodation. Trip Leader is Mark Moore.

August Club Night
As a reminder, August's Club Night will be on Thursday, 7 August 2014 from 7pm at The Pilot.

ClubBuzz
Please remember to view the Members Area on ClubBuzz. There are regular updates, photos and other uploads for you to see and read, plus other members using the forum to see if you fancy a dip..... Do you have any kit you would like to sell (or maybe even give away)...? This is the perfect way of getting other members' attention.

Osterley Park Clean-Up
The Osterley Park clean-up is looking for volunteers (both to get wet and surface support) and will take place over a weekend in August. It is planned that there will be two shifts a day (morning and afternoon) on both the Saturday and the Sunday. If you are interested, please can you contact Peter Rayner and Peter Russell-Smith on committee@clublsd.com with "Osterley" in the subject line.

Happy diving!

Nice article, perhaps stating the obvious, but a useful reminder of some good diving habits...
By Juanita Pienaar Most scuba divers are taught certain habits and rituals in their entry-level courses, which they discard as small or insignificant details as soon as they graduate from students to qualified divers. And although many of us choose not to maintain these simple habits, we shouldn’t forget their importance. Wearing a snorkel You…
