The Google Knowledge Graph uses Freebase MIDs when they exist

And when they don't the Knowledge Graph ID is prefaced with "/g/" rather than "/m/".

This is of no practical significance, excepting that you don't need to use the Knowledge Graph Search API when a Freebase MID exists for an entity (and all you want to see is the Knowledge Panel).

http://g.co/kg + MID = Google Knowledge Graph panel

E.g.:
http://g.co/kg/m/01yrx

Actually, as per my prior post (http://bit.ly/1JvKtMV), this can be useful if you're unable to return a Knowledge Graph node for an entity but you know the MID:
http://g.co/kg/m/01vq3

I have no idea how what that stub, non-resolving, "/g/11b7x1nzp0" ID is the Freebase search results (at the bottom of the call-out image). Any insights you can share on this +Thad Guidry or +Leeza Rodriguez?
