Amazing service as the owners are always in the restaurant and more than happy to help and explain the menu. Absolutely the best bbq place on long Island. Everything is cooked just right and the way it should be done. Large menu makes you want to keep coming back to try more and more of the fantastic food.

Walking in you are greeted by a warm homey feel. Our waitress Erica was wonderful. She helped us to maneuver the huge menu and was extremely knowledge. We started with fried green tomatoes and fried pickles and gator bites. They were lightly breaded and delicious to the last bite. The fried pickles were not oily the way most places seem to serve them. We had the crawfish boil as our main course. Which was just as good any I have had in NOLA. The owner Mara herself came over and gave us a lesson on how to properly eat crawfish. For dessert dark chocolate cajun ice cream and coconut cream pie. YUMM! Mara came around multiple times to make sure we were attended to. It was topped ofd by delicious sweet tea! They have a large alcoholic selection for drink connoisseurs. Everything they make here is homemade and from their own recipes. How can you possibly go wrong? There is so much more to try. We will definitely be back again!!

9-24-16 4:42 p.m Spent $70 dollars for terrible food that took 40 minutes to come to the table. The portion sizes were rediculously small. $3 for an 8 oz glass cola bottle that wasn't even served cold. Never coming back.

Great food, owner is super sweet but the disheveled daughter behind the bar is a nasty, unhappy bum, avoid her at all costs and you will enjoy the place!

We first visited Mara's when they were still located in the East Village and we were thrilled to have them open an outpost on Long Island. The food is outstanding - fun, different, tasty - starting with the appetizers (oh, that crawfish bread). We never seem to have room for dessert. We bring friends, family and work colleagues and everyone has loved the place. We give it the highest rating possible.

As a big fan of Cajun style food, I was excited to find a place so close to home. So, along with my wife, I met a client at Mara’s. With a reservation for 6:00, we were hoping to enjoy a couple hours of good food and good company. For starters, we ordered three various appetizers, which 2 of the 3 were really good. The Artichoke dip was not up to par which was returned. However, no apology, but just a response that someone in the kitchen will taste it. A few drinks later our dinner was served. All three of us enjoyed our dinner. The chicken, baby back ribs, catfish and crawfish were very tasty. As we bypassed dessert for our final round of drinks and the $250 bill was paid, we were approached by Mara, the manger asking us to move to the bar, which had only two seats open. She needed our table for other diners. This wouldn’t be a shock if we had been sitting for three hours, but we were 15 minutes shy of two hours. First, I was embarrassed as I was sitting with a client, but mostly stunned by this request. My embarrassment turned to frustration, as there was no line at the door and no apology by the management. This experience was one of disappointment and left a “bad” taste in our mouth. When I got home and looked for reviews about Mara’s, it appears my experience was not uncommon. I have to say, a return to Mara’s is unlikely.
