Experimenting with TOR on my rooted Nexus 10, pretty slick implementation of the protocol via Orbot I have to say, plus it works very nicely over a public WiFi hotspot ☺

LinkBubble: Only Possible on Android
+Chris Lacy's LinkBubble is finally out and it’s a game-changer. I’ve been using it for the past couple of weeks and it’s changed the way I use my phone. And it’ll likely do the same for you.

LinkBubble is an Android app that brings desktop-like workflow to your Android devices. To keep it simple: it’s chat heads for links you click across different apps on your device. But it’s so much more than that. Up until now, when you clicked a link on Google+, Twitter, or any other app, you’d get kicked out of that app, wait for the page to load, check out whatever you just clicked, then go back to where you were.

LinkBubble changes that.

It starts loading web pages in the background, not kicking you out of whatever you were doing. Now, I load up 4-5 sites through the stream I’m reading through - similar to loading a bunch of links in separate tabs. Then, I go through the links one by one. It makes life so much easier, especially in the morning when there’s so much new content to get through. The best part is, even when you’re reading through the site, LinkBubble still hasn’t kicked you out of the app. A single tap on the bubble and you’re back to wherever you were. And once you’re done - throw away the link. Literally.

My morning link barrage has turned into an efficient flow of information. I load up a set of links in the morning into LinkBubble and then read them later whenever I have time, one by one. As someone that reads a lot of articles every day, this is a godsend. I no longer need to send links to apps like Evernote or Keep. Nope - just send them to LinkBubble, keep them sitting there on my device, and get to them whenever I have a chance. Having the Bubble always there reminds me of the interesting things waiting for me to be read or seen. I absolutely love it!

Only Possible on Android
Such an app can only exist on Android. Much like his other app Action Launcher, Chris is building applications that no other mobile platform today can support. They don’t have the framework to do so. Android’s robust, extendable APIs make it possible to create brand new interfaces such as this, and LinkBubble is one of many that are doing so. Other examples are SwipePad, Facebook Messenger, Switchr, Sidebar, and so many more.

It’s apps like LinkBubble that make me realize I can likely never switch out of Android for my phone. The fact that developers can not only think out of the box but also implement such a drastically new experience excites me.

Awesome work, Chris. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
