The Pontiff spoke in opposition to equal marriage and divorce:
"... to acknowledge the beauty and goodness of marriage is to realize that only a setting of fidelity and indissolubility, along with an openness to God's gift of live, is adequate to the grandeur and dignity of marital love."
It's funny how the greatest threat to marriage, civil divorce, slipped by the Catholic Church so completely. If marriage is so important to them, how is it that they haven't been fighting divorce laws tooth and nail for the last few decades? The truth is that regardless of the civil laws, priests have always had the ability to refuse to marry couples and they've done so with divorced Catholics for years.
Priests will continue refusing to marry couples based on the dictates of their faith and same-sex couples will find celebrants of other faiths, or no faith, just as divorced couples have for decades.
