Now that Spring is here and there will be LOTS of baby animals being born (including mice, squirrels, and ground hogs), pay close attention to who is making your engine bay home!! We had one customer come in with an engine that was running rough and not idling. You can imagine how surprised he was when we found a family of 6 baby squirrels had made a home in his engine bay!!

Critters love to eat wires and can be attracted to the warmth of an engine! Keep your eyes peeled!!

What's that squealing noise under the hood!?
Well, while it can be a lot of things, chances are it's your drive belt (aka the Serpentine belt/ V belt/ or a multi belt). The drive belt is important because it controls so many different functions within your vehicle; alternators, water pump, air conditioner compressor, power steering pumps etc). Without, your car is dead, and you may be stranded!
How do you know when your belt should be replaced? Does it look glazed? Have any cracks or fraying? Is it split!? Completely snapped? Do you have a squeal? Has something leaked on it (coolant?)? Has it been on your car for more than 50k? These are all factors.
Replacing a belt is an inexpensive way to save on tow bills or more expensive repairs in the future (like an unexpected timing service!)

Russ and I just wanted to let all of our great customers know that we decided to make it official! Russ surprised me at the "surprise" birthday party I threw him by getting down on one knee! He hand carved the most beautiful ring, because we all know what an incredible fabricator and craftsman he is. The best part of the whole night was the incredible amount of donations we received for our Toys for Tots campaign!!! We filled our box and then some!! Thank you to everyone who was a part of our amazing night!!

This is why it is SO SO SO important to bring your vehicle in to a trusted repair shop AT LEAST every 5000 miles (preferably sooner!) This back tire was ready to blow! This is why courtesy inspections are so important, and a staple here at Russ's Wrench!
This customer came in for an oil change, and didn't even know they were headed for a blow out.
With the Fall and Winter seasons upon us, it is important to have your tires checked for safety for the sake of you, your family, and all drivers on the road.
Stop in at Russ's Wrench to have your tires checked for safety!!

Here is Russ and Joe installing gorgeous new headers on a Chevy Camaro for a customer. Headers are a super easy way to improve engine performance. Headers make it easier for an engine to push exhaust gases out of the cylinders, thus giving you a little extra power!

Do you ever hear a clicking noise when you turn? It might be a bad CV joint! A CV shaft is what allows the transmission to turn your wheels! When the CV boot rips, moisture and dirt get into the CV bearings and joints and wears it prematurely. Don't panic, stop by Russ's Wrench and have one of our ASE technicians inspect it for you.

Your ball joints are a critical part of your vehicles suspension that allow your wheels to turn. Failed ball joints can create premature tire wear or a clunking noise when driving over bumps. You might also notice a stiff steering wheel!
At Russ's Wrench, we inspect your vehicle from tire to tire every time you bring it in. Our ASE technicians will easily be able to identify a failed ball joint, and repair your vehicle quickly, saving the life of your tires. Give us a call today, or stop in and let us perform a FREE courtesy inspection on your vehicle!
