As a total beginner with no experience, I knew within the first 10 minutes that I made the right decision to enroll at NYBS. There's no way I could have learned everything without the hands-on learning, knowledgeable instructors, and positive environment. The classes were fun and informative with everyone helping each other out. I now have another level of respect for bartenders. It's a lot of work to know all the drinks but the instructor's tips and practice time helped me pass the speed drill exam. It was an amazing experience and I'll be going back to practice and learn more soon!

My entire experience here was positive. My instructors (Erica for week one and Jessie for week two) were both clearly knowledgeable and experienced. I learned a ton and after two weeks have an even more intense appreciation for good bartending. I haven't yet taken advantage of the job placement service but from what I can tell it's similarly helpful. The beginner's certification course may not be worth it if you already have some experience as a bartender, but if you're just breaking into the bartending game like I was it was 100% worth the time and the money.

Its an amazing school cause the staff there have a lot to offer to its customers. Every student there is treated like a family member cause everyone gets the same opportunities. Each students gets their own work area were they can practice as much as they want. The seminars are very well plan out which means that you can read them easily and increase your knowlege about each topic. The instructors have an amazing personality and its easy to work with them. Not only do you get to learn on how to make drinks but hear real life events that a bartender can encounter in life and know what steps to take to solve them out. I recommend that you take the free trial class at first and from there you'll get to decide if you want to continue or simply move on. If you really want to try something new in life I extremely recommend that take this course even if you don't continue working as a bartender but at least you'll get some knowledge about the drinks. Don't wait another second deciding weather to take the class or not just simply go for it. NYBS can change your life for the best.

It's fun. It got me into the world of making cocktails, learn about how to make different ones, and just not be intimidated about bartending in general.

I thoroughly enjoyed my "refresher course" with Erica and Brian! They were the best! The school is well situated in midtown and the "classrooms" are fully stocked and really help you to feel like you're working. The vibe is fun and professional and the one-week full-time course is not for the faint of heart. Be prepared to really roll up your sleeves and get to it. I feel totally prepared to get to work!

I enrolled in the NYBS in November 2014. I know it's more on the pricy side, but from going to other training programs that were really bad I go with the motto "You get what you pay for", and I definitely did. I was in Erica's class and it was really fast paced but really fun. All of the people in my class were really nice and eager to learn as well. The lectures were actually very informative and you will learn useful things about alcohol. Other bartending schools do not even offer lectures at all so this was a plus. The course was over before I knew it but you can always go back to retake the class again. At the end of the course you have to do a speed drill which was really intimidating at first, but it comes naturally to you because of all of the practicing we did. Anthony, the career advisor is amazing. He is a resume God (seriously). He gave me really great tips, and guess what? I actually got hired somewhere! Yes it took a few interviews but it's actually possible to get a job with a nice resume and confidence. If you take the course and your job search seriously, there's no reason why someone will not hire you. Especially when you have people to help guide you. Honestly, I do not regret any of the money spent. It was a very good investment. If you want to try for yourself go to the free trial class like I did. Once I did that, I knew this was the best mixology course in NYC. The school speaks for itself. I learned so much going there and I am actually confident with my certificate. I will definitely be back to practice my mixology skills.

I decided to give bartending a try but I didn't know where to start. I looked up online what was the best choice of school to learn. NYBS was my first option given to me and so I went with it. I made an appointment with a lady at the front desk. She was informative and helpful. As I took the tour I already knew this was the school for me. I picked the 2 weeks morning class with instructor Erika. She is one of the best bartender that New York has to offer or even in the world. She broke it down to real life example and professionalism of being a bartender. The fundamentals of being a mixologist/Bartender was such a great learning experience. You get hands on experience on holding the bottle to knowing how to pour the right amount. Knowing the varieties of liquors, liqueur and garnishments. I thoroughly enjoyed my stayed there. You will need to take 2 test. Part one is the written and Part two is the Practical exam. On the day of my tour to the school I got to see students on their finals day practicing for their practical exam. My first impression was overwhelming because of the amount of drinks they had to make in 6 minutes. However I digress making 16 drinks in 6 minutes is not hard at all. When I first started it sounded difficult and intimidating but it's not! You are prep little by little and you study along the way. I studied using index cards and it was extremely helpful. By the time the practical exam was near I was confident on making 100+ drinks with no problem. Practice makes perfect! If you want to become a bartender and want to gain knowledge then NYBS is the place for you! I don't regret a single penny and you won't either. Enjoy your stay and maybe one day you see me passing by because they also provide help on job placement and resume. Oh and did I mention that once you graduate you can come back anytime to take the course again for FREE! Your skills and knowledge will never be rusty.
