Its an amazing school cause the staff there have a lot to offer to its customers. Every student there is treated like a family member cause everyone gets the same opportunities. Each students gets their own work area were they can practice as much as they want. The seminars are very well plan out which means that you can read them easily and increase your knowlege about each topic. The instructors have an amazing personality and its easy to work with them. Not only do you get to learn on how to make drinks but hear real life events that a bartender can encounter in life and know what steps to take to solve them out. I recommend that you take the free trial class at first and from there you'll get to decide if you want to continue or simply move on. If you really want to try something new in life I extremely recommend that take this course even if you don't continue working as a bartender but at least you'll get some knowledge about the drinks. Don't wait another second deciding weather to take the class or not just simply go for it. NYBS can change your life for the best.

I decided to give bartending a try but I didn't know where to start. I looked up online what was the best choice of school to learn. NYBS was my first option given to me and so I went with it. I made an appointment with a lady at the front desk. She was informative and helpful. As I took the tour I already knew this was the school for me. I picked the 2 weeks morning class with instructor Erika. She is one of the best bartender that New York has to offer or even in the world. She broke it down to real life example and professionalism of being a bartender. The fundamentals of being a mixologist/Bartender was such a great learning experience. You get hands on experience on holding the bottle to knowing how to pour the right amount. Knowing the varieties of liquors, liqueur and garnishments. I thoroughly enjoyed my stayed there. You will need to take 2 test. Part one is the written and Part two is the Practical exam. On the day of my tour to the school I got to see students on their finals day practicing for their practical exam. My first impression was overwhelming because of the amount of drinks they had to make in 6 minutes. However I digress making 16 drinks in 6 minutes is not hard at all. When I first started it sounded difficult and intimidating but it's not! You are prep little by little and you study along the way. I studied using index cards and it was extremely helpful. By the time the practical exam was near I was confident on making 100+ drinks with no problem. Practice makes perfect! If you want to become a bartender and want to gain knowledge then NYBS is the place for you! I don't regret a single penny and you won't either. Enjoy your stay and maybe one day you see me passing by because they also provide help on job placement and resume. Oh and did I mention that once you graduate you can come back anytime to take the course again for FREE! Your skills and knowledge will never be rusty.

If you are looking to make quick moves right into a bartending job without having to work 'less desirable' jobs first, this is absolutely the place to go. It's TONS of hands on experience, the teachers are awesome, and they don't sugarcoat anything. Two weeks of experience is a lot more than I thought it would be! I graduated in mid April, and by the following week, I was booking training spots at awesome bars. Early the following week, those bars were calling me to schedule shifts. It worked for me, it can definitely work for you!

Fun! Interesting! Very friendly and informative instructors! (Especially Jessy) Nice practice bars! Definitely worth it especially when you can get their nice discounts. There are classes in Spanish as well which is a huge plus for the Latino community! The only thing that's keeping this review from 5 stars is that the lectures can get boring and the bars could be a tad bit cleaner (I'm a neat freak and a germiphobe so this may not apply to most). Classes are very flexible, they help you as best they can, and the staff is helpful and friendly! After all is said and done... This school is definitely worth it and you will enjoy it!

I enrolled in the NYBS in November 2014. I know it's more on the pricy side, but from going to other training programs that were really bad I go with the motto "You get what you pay for", and I definitely did. I was in Erica's class and it was really fast paced but really fun. All of the people in my class were really nice and eager to learn as well. The lectures were actually very informative and you will learn useful things about alcohol. Other bartending schools do not even offer lectures at all so this was a plus. The course was over before I knew it but you can always go back to retake the class again. At the end of the course you have to do a speed drill which was really intimidating at first, but it comes naturally to you because of all of the practicing we did. Anthony, the career advisor is amazing. He is a resume God (seriously). He gave me really great tips, and guess what? I actually got hired somewhere! Yes it took a few interviews but it's actually possible to get a job with a nice resume and confidence. If you take the course and your job search seriously, there's no reason why someone will not hire you. Especially when you have people to help guide you. Honestly, I do not regret any of the money spent. It was a very good investment. If you want to try for yourself go to the free trial class like I did. Once I did that, I knew this was the best mixology course in NYC. The school speaks for itself. I learned so much going there and I am actually confident with my certificate. I will definitely be back to practice my mixology skills.

I walked in there a total noob, and in a weeks time I felt I knew bartending for a decade, we went through an intensive curriculum filled with industry experience and essential bartending knowledge, not just what your suppose to know but intuitively should know. I had Jesse as my instructor and he made the class even more interesting and informative as it is.

New York Bartending School provided me with an amazing experience, which notions me to recommend the program to anyone who's interested in obtaining their bartending license. I've previously taken a 35 hr mixology course( In NJ and if I may add, I was very unsatisfied), and NYBS's instructors made them look like amateurs. James and Peter were awesome, very knowledgeable, and extremely generous with their combined wealth of knowledge in bartending. 5 STARS!
