PLEASE READ: I really need your help to make this work!

My site has generated VERY FEW pen pal ‘hits' for my clients. Yet, I have staked my reputation both on my ability to find people who are willing to ease the suffering of another human being in need (by corresponding with one prisoner) and upon promoting the truth that there is huge societal benefit in keeping prisoners from feeling utterly ostracized, demonized, and forgotten by people beyond the walls that hold them.

So to have a very few ‘hits’ is just plain counter to logic and what should be in our increasingly evolved world...

I believe that every human being, even one incarcerated for mistakes made in the past, is a valuable one, and should not be written off as worthless or unworthy of any and all attention. Societal contact simultaneously eases human suffering and lowers recidivism. Statistics bear me out on this. People who’ve exchanged letters and positive thoughts with people on the outside fare far better when released. They are more balanced, less alienated, and less angry at the world.

Simply sending a short, $0.44 letter to say Hi every few weeks, at the least, or sending along the briefest of FREE emails, can change a life in the long run. It’s not about condoning or, worse yet, encouraging crime. People in prison know they’ve done wrong. Most prisoners are far from being in denial about that. Heck, if they are in denial, call them ON it; they will probably appreciate the courage and the enlightened insight you have for them.

Really.

In my mind, writing to a prisoner is a small price to pay, in terms of time and energy, which carries with it a huge reward — both to oneself and to the prisoner receiving something at mail call.

Writing someone in prison is safe. Use a P.O. Box, and take the normal precautions you might take when engaging in small talk with a stranger on an elevator. Open your heart to one lonely person and simply say, Hello.

...If you’re willing. Trust me, I would not advocate anything that would put my friends at risk. Nor will I push them into something they are uncomfortable with. And likewise, I won’t sit by silently as a vital human need goes unmet.

So please check out http://www.cellblock-services.com/ and see if any of my clients piques your interest or curiosity, or even strikes your fancy. It isn’t about romance, or being soft-on-crime, or ANY labels… It’s about human beings.

And it’s about time.

How the site/service works: Most prisoners have zero Internet access. So for $1 per month, Cellblock Services posts the personal ads of prisoners seeking correspondence. Any free person can visit our website, and either 1) write to the prisoner directly at their physical address (listed at the foot of their ad) or 2) drop them an email. Again, most prisoners cannot access the Internet/emails directly, so Cellblock Services prints and physically mails all emails received for its clients, to them.

Please pass on this message: This isn’t spam or a scam. This is me, Bruce Lisker, advocating personally for what I believe in. Please pass on this valuable message, just as much as you feel comfortable. I thank you in advance for even one single Forward.
