That organization should be called the Electronic Information Visualization Laboratory.

For home use, I'm still holding out for a device that produces blue fuzzy 3D holograms for an authentic Star Wars battle simulation.

Hmm, so this Google+ thing is a cleaner, simpler, farmville free facebook with an emphasis on creating privacy groups. I like it :)

I originally moved to Longview 1 year ago. I scoured for internet providers however it seems that Longview Cable and AT&T DSL are the only providers in the area. From the start, it was well over a 2 week wait to have them come and hook up one cable at the pole and then phone home saying it was completed. As many other locals have complained, they broke the "Installation" fee into two parts. The first two months bills seem really high. Very Very strange way to do business. By their pricing structure, you either get a Combo TV with Basic Cable, or you can pay roughly 15-20$ less and get just one of the services. So its (after fees) a $100 a month bill, or $80 depending. I just want the internet for a reasonable price! Not so! I have had many quarrels about Internet service quality and issues with service delivery. However, this is the latest problem I have encountered. My 1 year contract is up tomorrow, so being a good steward of my contract (and ever tight budget) I call and ask them to modify it so that I receive only internet services. First I am promptly told that it will be a ~$60 fee to change my service. WHAT?! To remove my TV service that I didn't want in the first place, it's going to cost $60. Insane. That should be a provider COST of doing business not a CUSTOMER FEE. I am still a customer, I am still paying for service. Nowhere on their website does it ever list their "fees". There is no accountability for what the billing people say. OK, so moving on from that, the service representative moves to make the changes. She then states I will be charged a $240 fee for FAULTING on my contract. Longview Cable requires payment in advance. IE they charge month in advance. I reply that I have already paid my last bill and it has posted on your website which indicates that I have fulfilled my monetary obligation for the 1 year contract. I then ask for a supervisor to wave the fee given that the monetary obligation has been fulfilled. NOPE! Not going to happen, because it would be a breach of contract. The phone representatives have always been kind and polite, however it is company policies that make the consumer feel like they are the enemy and are not worth caring about. Sadly, they do have a monopoly for high speed internet in this area and can get away with terrible practices. After wasting nearly 40 minutes on the phone, I politely hung up, only to go through the same routine tomorrow. Bottom Line, If any major provider came in the area, that offered reasonable speeds. I would immediately switch. No hesitation. But for now, I am stuck. Terrible situation.
