It's a sad day for space exploration. Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the surface of the Moon, just passed away - just a couple of days after having heart surgery to clear up blocked coronary arteries. He was 82 years old.
For everyone who knew him, he was an amazing man, and lived the most adventurous life anyone could have lived. There's no question he'd say that it was a life well lived. He walked on the &$*!ing Moon!
And yet, with Neil's passing, it feels like we just turned a sad corner in space exploration. With Neil alive, the Apollo missions just happened a few years ago... recently... in living memory.
With Neil gone, and with the passing of each Apollo astronaut, those monumental accomplishments fade further into history. Humans used to go to the Moon, we don't do that any more.
I wasn't born for the Moon landing, so I didn't experience it. Let's hear your memories and thoughts of Neil Armstrong and the first Moon landing.
