So my family and I visit this location regularly, unfortunately the wife ate the new shrimp salad and got food poisoning. we know it was at this location due to she got sick almost immediately. we called the main # to report it but no one answered the phone, so we phoned headquarters. The lady on the phone was so uninterested and condescending that my wife was wicked pissed getting of the phone with her. I called today a few days latter to see if anything had come of it.... what a surprise nothing the phone call fell on deaf ears. This isn't the first time we had issues with this place. We had a family reunion about 2 years ago and took about 45 to 50 of the family their half of the elderly got sick and even my father in law got so sick he passed out in the hotel room. his grandchildren came in the room to find him on the floor and they though he was dead, again due to food poisoning..... 3 weeks ago I had a problem myself their. I had the creamy tomato soup... yummy... my first bit was a douse, I burned my mouth. I let the management know and they took care of it right away, latter the manager brought us some cookies to say sorry but he admitted that the temp was at 190 degrees, this was 50 degrees above where it should have been 140 degrees.. boiling water is 212 degrees. rest assured we will not be going back... its a shame I really like the idea of eating health at a restaurant.

Upon entering, one noticeable difference from other Souplantations is the food bar. Instead of two sides separated by a work aisle for employees to restock the food, it's thinner. As a result, the food is more difficult to reach when you get to the non-leafy items, since they are laid out three deep between both sides. Additionally, when the staff add more to replenish, they have to squeeze in and hold their containers over your food. Price: As we got to the end of the food bar, they had additional items like Edemame, etc, that they were charging another $2.49 for!! Seriously? I'm already spending $27 for two people and two drinks for a buffet!! Food: It was ok. Having been a Souplantation customer since about 1990, it used to be excellent. Just doesn't seem that care and taste is put into preparing the food. Poor service: Between the two of us, we accumulated 4 finished dinner plates, five side plates, 2 soup bowls and two trays before I HAD TO ASK to have them removed. They were even conveniently at the edge of the booth all stacked up. We were even just outside the door the staff goes thru to return used plates/trays!!! The only tables that were bussed were the ones from which people just got up and left the restaurant. The restaurant was about 60% full the night we went. So, it can't be said that it was because they were busy. Additionally, the person I had to ask was a manager, and he wasn't sympathetic to my concern. No apology; didn't even more to remove them; he directed someone else and he was four feet from the booth. Environment: It appears they tried to make due with a small space. Whether it's the smaller food bar, odd layout of the food and need to clear off recently vacated tables instead of occupied ones, this location is the most sterile and uninviting of all of them. Staff: Appears they've been directed to interact more with the customer because their 'Thanks for coming to Souplantation' seemed to come off as scripted/forced. Well, I'll did my best to express my experience with this Souplantation without ranting. I did feel the need to rant because I'm so disappointed in how much this restaurant chain has degraded over the past few years. However, I laid out specifics to help others decide for themselves. Oh, and on a previous breakfast visit, the eggs weren't real but a powdered substitute; maybe they consider them fresh because the mixed the powder into the water that morning, but they were FAR from natural!

Freshly prepared? Fresh Ingredients? Great value? No way. For what you pay and what you get, Souplantation does not live up to its billing. The last time we ate there (which will ultimately be the last time we eat at Souplantation period), the dishes were filthy. We must have gone through 200 plates before we found some clean ones. To watch the "teen" workers prepare the food is analogous to watching farm hands sling poop in the stalls. They're kids what do you expect? They have a, "could care less" attitude. The food tasted processed and not home-made. Definitely take a pass on this noisy, uncleanly restaurant.

Not nearly as good as other locations in San Diego. Small and cramped, the food items weren't as fresh or well-stocked as they should be. Avoid this location.

Solid salad buffet. Nothing mind blowing about it, but it gets the job done.

Coming here with our two children has been an event we all talk about and look forward too. The staff has always been friendly and both of our kids can be a bit messy. The short review is" for what we spend - it always exceeds our expectation". Best type restaurant for our family north and south for 10 miles :) And I've lived around Encinitas for 28 years.
