Don't worry, the Irving was recovered, repaired, and continues to sail today. Here's a post I wrote about caulking the deck a couple years ago:
The tall ship Irving Johnson lies hard aground, only yards from shore, near the entrance to Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, California.

On March 21, 2005, Irving Johnson went aground on a sandbar outside the entrance to Channel Islands Harbor. suffering from serious damage which compromised the forward portion of the vessel and flooded the vessel with seawater, she underwent an extensive reconstruction and was returned to service in early 2006.
