You can still see my images from ‪Nepal‬ up in the Fayetteville Underground through the end of the month. Currently the death toll from the April ‪‎earthquake‬ and its aftershocks is at almost 9,000. Nine thousand. Over 22,000 are injured, and hundreds of thousands are now homeless. A recent landslide has killed over 20 more. There are hundreds still missing. And the monsoon season has started, bringing rain and a huge increase in risk for a Hepatitis outbreak. And it has all but disappeared from the headlines.

They still really need our help.

All proceeds from the sale of these prints, and from any Nepal-related custom order, will go directly to the relief effort. I have two sets -- 8 16x25" mounted prints total -- that are available for purchase, through me or through the Underground. Over $700 has been donated so far through YOUR efforts, and I thank you for that.

There's still work to do.

Sometimes when you get the little guys to smile, they do it just right. When is the last time you had portraits made of YOUR kids?

When a photographer goes to an event with a camera, it's not only images that are created. It's memories that could, someday, become very important to many. Sometimes I forget that. It's easy to get lost in the "paying the bills" aspect of photography.

When I went to a CD release party of a friend and brought my camera (a rarity when I'm not "on the job"), I had no idea how important the images would become. When I created some images for his album art, I didn't know how hard they would pull at my heart.

And since yesterday was his birthday, I have to post this here. A new website for Jacob and his work. I'm so glad that I was able to capture some of his moments. Even just a quick photo when his niece came on stage to sing with him, seemingly rudimentary, can become so vitally important to his memory.

If you are or know of any veterans suffering with PTSD, don't hesitate to reach out. Listen to Jacob's music, grow from his sufferings, and, most of all, rejoice in the memories of his hugs. At least I will.

There’s no party planned, but today is a big day!

Today is the one year anniversary of opening my studio on the Fayetteville Square, as well as the FIVE year anniversary of when I marched down to the courthouse, paid $25 and filed papers to make Ironside Photography a business.

Read more on the blog.

"We travel together, passengers on a little space ship, dependent on its vulnerable reserves of air and soil; all committed for our safety to its security and peace; preserved from annihilation only by the care, the work, and, I will say, the love we give our fragile craft. We cannot maintain it half fortunate, half miserable, half confident, half despairing, half slave—to the ancient enemies of man—half free in a liberation of resources undreamed of until this day. No craft, no crew can travel safely with such vast contradictions. On their resolution depends the survival of us all." - Adlai Stevenson, in his last address as US Ambassador to the UN, 1965.
