Osprey ~ www.megrousher.com
I found this beautiful bird having breakfast at the Critical Wildlife Area on Fort Myers Beach in Florida. They circle high above the water looking for food and will hover just before diving feet first to grab a fish.

Erwin ~ www.megrousher.com
She was banded as a chick on June 16, 2011 at a lake shore housing development in Dodge County near North Bend, Nebraska. This summer (2015) she was nesting at a sand and gravel mine near Ashland, NE. She laid five eggs, and all successfully hatched. A PBS affiliate in Nebraska is doing a story on the Piping Plovers and interior Least Terns from the Platte Basin. Erwin is their "main character" highlighting conservation efforts.

Long-billed Curlew ~ www.megrousher.com
Watching this curlew hunt for food is always fun. It does a great job of pulling treats out of the sand with that long curved bill.

Red Knot (Moonbird) ~ www.megrousher.com
This week (Dec 9, 2014) the Red Knot was formally listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. These birds make migratory trips of nearly 20,000 miles annually. They are incredible voyagers. One even earning the nickname Moonbird because researchers calculated it's flown enough miles to make it to the moon and half way back.

Tufted Titmouse ~ www.megrousher.com
Capturing tiny birds like this has always been a challenge. Luckily this titmouse wanted to see me just as much as I wanted to photograph it.

Florida Scrub Jay ~ www.megrousher.com
This is the friendliest bird I ever met. They are extremely curious and  seem to have no fear of humans. It's sad to think they may one day be gone from lack of natural habitat.

Cuban Treefrog ~ www.megrousher.com
This  inch tall baby treefrog was so kind letting me get close-up with my macro lens. We had dozens hopping around a little over a month ago. It's been a couple of weeks since I've seen one.
