The foreground right, corrugated iron roofed building is almost certainly a ferry stop. Due to Bangkok's poor traffic, this canal in particular is used by public ferries in the form of extended longtail speedboats to tear across the city's east/west axis in rush hour. With a seating capacity of around 40 people and low cost, they're a valued addition to the city's public transport infrastructure. The only problem is that when riding them you occasionally get splashed by the dirty/smelly canal water.

This looks like a diesel twin-engine train unhooked from any carriages. It could probably be used for either passenger or goods hauling, but judging from Transport Tycoon it's likely used for goods since the horsepower of diesel engines is greater than the likely requirements for passenger services.
