Hi there,
this is to inform you that we will celebrate Carnival on 28th February 2019. No matter the name, almost all carnival observances end at midnight on Shrove Tuesday (the week later). The next day, Ash Wednesday, is the official start of Lent, even if very few people today actually fast until Easter. Historically, the purpose of carnival was to live it up before the start of Lent and its 40 days of gustatory sacrifice.

Many students will come to school wearing costumes that day for a certain Carnival event later that morning. We are searching for the best costume and presentation that day in a certain class (Grade 9 and grade 7). So we want to invite you - as a teacher or educator with or without a class - to be a member of the voting jury.
I set up 2 time slots (45 mins each) starting at 07.00am GMT to join the presentations and to vote for the best costume.
Each jury member has to vote for the best costume and the best presentation of the costume giving certain points on a Google spreadsheet. Each jury member is allowed to have advisers (maybe a class, family members, colleagues,
friends, etc.) to discuss the presentation before the jury member will type in the points into that sheet. Only the jury member is allowed to type in the points straight after each presentation before the next presenter will appear on that walk.
The conversation language will be English. We accept all gender and all ages and children from all different cultural background, who are interested into German cultural affairs.

If you would like to be a member of the jury, fill in the registration here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qzMUyWovayPc8VPJjpTl-4sEMlhgq1Mj-Gdpyszp-_Q/edit?usp=sharing

You should be familiar with Google Hangout and Google Sheets.

See you soon!!
Reinhard
