I could tell you about our "surf and turf", our small lobster tails and porter house smoked on the grill; but some might see that as bragging. Instead, I will tell you of our butter-lemon-garlic sauce which turned the garlic BLUE. I guess it's a right of passage, under specific conditions (in my case: young garlic, constant heat, acidity from lemon juice) it happens to everyone 😁

I have AC, but I prefer cooking outside in summer. Why look at countertops when I can look at the shimmering Hudson River flowing by? :-)

Actually, their programming calculator is useful... Just add something that gets me xwindows and I can develop on it!

The Windows 8.1 commercial pisses me off. Not because they basically say "here is your start button back... (But fuck you, not the menu).
No because they say something like "to make more space for important things" and they embiggen the dog picture. Fine... I get that, your pet is important.
What pisses me of is the next thing, where they reduce the size of the calculator and say something along the lines about less important things.

It's probably just me, but the calculator symbolizes at the same time very important things in life: math, science, money (accounting) and they reduce it as "not important".

No! Very important! Fuck you MS, your whole business is built on maths!

Introduction
I "microblog" pictures of food to show others that making stuff from scratch is easy and normal.

My greatest hope is to inspire others to do things for themselves. Questions about recipes or comments are always appreciated.

I guess you could call me a slow-food locavore; I'm not really interested in labels.  I am interested in getting in-season foods from around here; it's 9/10ths of the battle to making great meals.

I buy my Berkshire pigs by the half and angus beef by the quarter (from www.wagonwheelranch.org/), I get my eggs, goats, lamb and chickens from http://www.foxhollowfarm.org/) and my wife and I get a 4-person CSA share of vegetables from http://sandyspringcsa.com/ which contracts to Lancaster farm fresh coop (http://www.lancasterfarmfresh.com/static/controls/).
So if you see me wrestling with too much produce and wonder "why did he buy so much?!" it's because it was in my box that week.

Interested in all things interesting, Often amazed at how often amazed I am.
