After nearly 50 years at the law school, Prof. Christopher Stone has retired from the USC Gould faculty. A beloved teacher, Stone produced a vast body of scholarship in areas including corporate crime, energy policy and environmental law. Below, Prof. Stone reflects on the publication of his seminal work, “Should Trees Have Standing?”

On a sunny Friday in July, the beach beckoned our international students here for USC Gould's four-week Summer Law & English program. Scores of students boarded two buses and headed to the Santa Monica Pier for a day of quintessential Southern California fun.

Through her work as an attorney and an educator, Prof. Clare Pastore has helped shape the careers of hundreds of future lawyers. Recently she was recognized for her inspirational role in the founding of L.A.'s Wage Justice Center, established by two of her former students in 2007. Former U.S. congressman Patrick Kennedy spoke about his decades-long struggle with bipolar disorder and depression as part of the recent Saks Institute for Mental Health Law, Policy, and Ethics Lecture at USC Gould. Kennedy was joined by Prof. Elyn Saks, USC law student Evan Langinger and psychiatry resident Michelle Wu, all of whom discussed how they managed mental illness through their university years.
