In the Texas Supreme Court yesterday, the American Kennel Club argued that if someone intentionally kills your old, blind dog, you are out of luck because your dog should legally be worth nothing.  I don't agree.

Breed discrimination cost these two lives this week, and probably thousands more. It's time for groups like PETA to stop advocating for the deaths of animals based on their likely false visual breed identification.

In case you didn't know, +Austin Pets Alive! is on Google+. Circle them!

Wow. Thank you very much to the kind soul who apparently nominated me for the Dallas Morning News's Texan of the Year award. The winner was far out of my league, but I'm incredibly honored that someone even considered me. Happy Holidays to everyone. Let's make 2012 a great year!

I'll be speaking at four conferences (so far) next year. At the end of February, I'll be speaking at the American Pets Alive No Kill Workshop in Austin, Texas (http://bit.ly/uTdiS3). At the end of March, I'll be speaking at the New Mexico Pets Alive Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico (http://bit.ly/sjfQCF) and the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies' Conference in Williamsburg, Virginia (http://bit.ly/tKQEBY). And in mid-August, I'll be speaking at the No Kill Advocacy Center's No Kill Conference in Washington, D.C. (http://bit.ly/u9bjoC). Hope to catch you guys at one of these conferences next year.
