Low-light photography using the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge
Revolutionizing low-light photography on the #GalaxyS7 and #GalaxyS7edge

Smartphone cameras continue to improve and the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are ahead of the curve. The Galaxy S7 uses a Dual Pixel image sensor for the first time in a smartphone camera to tackle low light photography like a professional-grade camera. The all-new sensor allows for fast and accurate shooting without sacrificing image quality, regardless of lighting conditions.

The Power of Dual Pixel Sensor

Dual Pixel technology has traditionally been utilized in high-end DSLR cameras to send light to two image sensors separately to adjust the focus, just like the human eye, for improved autofocus performance.

Using the same technology, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come equipped with 1.4 μm pixels (a 56 percent increase in size compared to the Galaxy S6) and a large F1.7 aperture (which allows for 25 percent more brightness). Combined, these features enable for 95 percent more light, making it the ideal phone for capturing the moment no matter the lighting. Furthermore, the S7 employs autofocusing at considerably faster speeds, allowing for faster shooting.

Brighter, Better Selfies

In 2002, Samsung developed the first phone built with a front-facing camera. Since then it has continued its efforts to improve the selfie experience- increasing pixel resolution, supporting wide-angle photography, and introducing a brighter lens to the front camera.

The front camera on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge features an F1.7 lens to deliver bright, clear selfies, even in low light. It also supports a Selfie Flash feature, which enables the user to use the Super AMOLED display of the phone as a camera flash when taking selfies in a low light environment.

The camera flash on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge has a greater but softer light-emitting surface than that of an LED flash. The result is a much softer surface lighting effect without the harshness of a front LED flash. Plus, once the device’s camera recognizes your face, you can adjust the intensity and direction of the light in order to make your selfies even more expressive.
