It has been a long time since I have shared a Who Am I kind of an idea as a post.  Now I have figured out how to make a seperate tab on my blog page for that very thing.  So if you are at all curious, or you are brand new to True to the Word, check it out.

Since a new year often includes plans and goals for spiritual growth as a family and individually, I wanted to share some of the goals and plans that we have as a family and make a few suggestions.  I pray it is a blessing to someone.

This will be interesting to some and not so interesting to others but the resolutions of Jonathan Edwards have been discussed and admired for a couple of centruires now.  Anything with that kind of endurance is worth a look. They are thoughts that most of us could stand to meditate and hold ourselves too much more often that we do.

If it helped me to become even half the man that he was, while helping me to live a life worthy of the gospel, it would be worth it.

This is a very important post which can now be found as it's own page via a tab at the top of my blog site.  I am super excited to be able to create distinct pages for specific purposes.  If you go to my page you will see a Welcome tab and a Gospel tab by the same name as this post.  I have also made changes to the look of the page.  Check it out.

The main goal of this post is to present some new tools and thought processes to facilitate the spiritual discipline of scripture memory.  I also want to encourage you, YOU CAN do this.  If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, then you are a child of the Most High God.

2 Peter 1:3 tells us that,

"His divine power has given us everything we need pertaining to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us according to His own glory and excellence."

This means that, He has already given us all that we need to pursue righteous living in Christ Jesus.  It also means that as we grow in knowledge of Him through study, memorization, and meditation on his word, we will continue to grow into the fullness of all that He has given us.

So let's do it!!!

I wrote this last year with the knowledge that it may have been my Mom's last Christmas.  As many of you know, it was. She passed away on Christmas Eve 2014.  Since then I have known friends who have also lost parents or children.  It is never easy dealing with the loss of a loved one but particularly during the holiday season.  There are many stresses which can make the holiday season difficult.

I have tweaked this post and am resharing in hopes of lifting spirits and reminding us all that there is light to be found in the darkness that seems to shroud the holiday season.

Come, be encouraged.

Remembering the Reason for the season as we enter the insanities of this holiday season.  Let's remember amid all the shopping and travels that, as believers, we represent this Advent story everywhere we go.

Maybe you think you know the answer to this question however, no matter how well we think we understand the Christmas season and the term Advent as it applies to this season, we can always stand to meditate on it again at this time of year.

Come reminisce with me and let's marinate on the glories of the reason for this season.

It is amazing how much weight and glory there is in one word.

Forgiveness.

What a wonderful subject to explore.  What an excellent place to find joy and refuge.

I could never do justice to this biblical truth, but I hope that in some way, I have created an appreciation not only for this word and concept, but for the fact that it is reflected on in Psalm 103 and great solace can be found there.

I hope that as you read my meager thoughts on the matter, you will find reason to "Bless the Lord at all times and give Him praise continually".

Our greatest joy will not be found in how worthy we are in God's eyes, but how worthy Christ is in God's eyes.
