Welcome to Highland! We are a local gathering spot, serving the finest craft beer in our indoor and outdoor venues. Enjoy a pint or a flight, take a tour, and bring the family!
Highland's name honors the Scots Irish who settled in the Appalachian mountains in the 18th and 19th centuries, and whose culture continues to influence local music, drink and language. Founded in 1994, we are Asheville's first legal brewery since Prohibition. Founder Oscar Wong is Chinese and was born and raised in Jamaica. His daughter Leah marks the second generation of family ownership.

Visited for one night stop over in fall of '14 for the Cold Mountain release party. My first visit to this brewery was great. Live music, large main room was packed and a variety of beers.

Web Brewer, thank you for visiting us and for this review! Lots of new beers coming out of the pilot system and an expansion is underway. Hope you will return. cheers!

The fact they brew one of my favorite beers (St. Theresa) obviously meant this place started out in my good books. But what really makes the experience of touring here is just how friendly and interesting everyone is (oh and the free samples). Just two of the little quirks I enjoyed - they use leftover wine barrels from the Biltmore estate adding local flair and their bottle capping machine was hand made by one of their workers, so impressive! If you want a taste of Asheville and all of its brewery fame, this is a must stop. Locals, you should visit too! Events outside in summer are always fun and the super fancy bar area is great too.

Highland was the 1st brewery on our recent trip to several in Western NC. It's less than a handful of miles from downtown and Tunnel Road. Highland is an established name in Asheville beer history and known for their consistency. On a lazy, pre-holiday December Sunday, the large tasting room was less than capacity, but comfortable and inviting. Flights are available - including their standards and available small batch selections. And the brewery tour was entertaining and worth the wait!

The beers are good. They have some specialty beers there that don't hit the shelf. The tour was nice and the campus was large.

We went to dinner in Asheville then headed out to Highland Brewing for a fun time on the lawn with kids playing and listening to a live band. Enjoyed some of the limited release brew...Fantastic and relaxing!
