Ah peer pressure, it's always a good thing right?  So due to popular demand, the Ubuntu/Debian 2013-05-29 images update release now has a *.img file for the new BeagleBone Black.. So you can either use linux/mac and dd to the microSD card or use <cough> windows </cough> via the Win32DiskImager program... Plus it has the 'usb' hotplug fix everyone is going to be raving about..  Note, due to a last minute bug in the auto resize partition scripts, these images default only reflashing the eMMC with Ubuntu/Debian.  You could use the microSD image as is, but there is only about 50Mb of free space on the root file system partition...

PS: if your dvi/hdmi monitor still doesn't work, we'd like to see the "edid.txt" file in the debug folder in the boot partition.. (the one that wants to automount when you plug the usb slave device into a pc..)

It's the end of another month, so I just finished testing/uploading the new Beagle/Panda Ubuntu/Debian demonstration images for December.

For the BeagleBoard, the v3.6.x based kernel has working ondemand again, so although it's limited to 600Mhz (it'll boot at 800Mhz, it'll just lock up on the next software reboot), it will now drop to 300Mhz at idle.

The older Panda is still stuck on v3.2.x, unless you do not push it to 100% 24/7 load.  The Panda ES is running fine under load with v3.6.x, just one odd dmesg spam message "L3 custom error: MASTER:MPU TARGET:GPMC" but the board continues to operate fine under load.

For the BeagleBone, this will be the last ancient board file v3.2.x release, fingers crossed we can get the v3.7 device tree based branch https://github.com/beagleboard/kernel/tree/3.7 in good shape.  (it boots fine, just need to re-test every cape combination. ;) )

Perfect time to sneak away and go a vacation! ;)

So, it's been a little delayed over the Christmas break, but I just finished testing/uploading the new Beagle/Panda Ubuntu/Debian demonstration images for January.

For the BeagleBoard/PandaBoard/PandaBoard ES, we are once again using one unified kernel, based on v3.7.2.  For the BeagleBoard, we have support for the recently released LS Research's COM6L adapater http://www.lsr.com/wireless-products/com6l

Note: the first run have the wrong eeprom and the TiWi-R5 needs a different clock frequency so see "uEnv.txt" in the boot partition for hints and http://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/LSR+COM6L+Adapter+Board

For the BeagleBone, (am i repeating myself?) this will be the last ancient board file v3.2.x release, fingers crossed we can get the v3.7 device tree based branch https://github.com/beagleboard/kernel/tree/3.7 in good shape.  (it boots fine, just need to re-test every cape combination. ;) and fix these regressions: https://github.com/RobertCNelson/linux-dev/issues/8 )

It actually only has half the memory (1GB) of the ARM based Samsung Chromebook. The ethernet interface is still stuck on one of the usb 2.0 bus's using an ASIX AX88750.  I do not think we are ever going to see the OMAP5, as this (1) included people who helped launch/design/etc the PandaBoard...
