On 30 May 2014, Michael and Anna from the The Forward Foundation (our funder) came to visit the tailoring skills project in Gulu Women's Prison and our tailoring centre and shop in Gulu town (Northern Uganda).

In prison, the women learn how to make new products, like clothes, bags and accessories. With sewing skills, the female prisoners can rebuild their lives after prison to provide for themselves and their children.

With the tailoring centre and shop we support the reintegration of the participants of our project in Gulu Prison, by giving the young women temporary employment after release. In the tailoring centre, they can gain more tailoring and working skills and we can help them with their transition back to the community.

This project is funded by the Forward Foundation.

On 30 May 2014, Uganda Prisons Service and Product of Prison appeared on the talk show “Oye-yeng” on Radio Rupiny. Radio Rupiny targets people living in Northern Uganda from Lira, round to Kitgum and Gulu. It broadcasts in local languages Acholi and Luo (and for the occasion also in English…). With a mixture of politics, news, infotainment and music it is a leading regional station. The show was well received by the audience, and already led to new visitors for our shop in Gulu and Hair Salon in Lira.
