We live in an age where data flows like water, becoming the new life source of our everyday ventures. It is no secret that our personal information is as valuable if not more than actual currency. Imagining your social security number, medical bills or paycheck amounts flowing through vast amounts of seemingly random servers all across the globe can be unnerving.
It brings out the same questions that we would have for anything else of value:
Where is it going? Who can see it? Why are they holding it? Is it safe?

Another security vulnerability has been reported in Facebook that could have allowed attackers to obtain certain personal information about users and their friends.
It should be noted that the newly reported vulnerability has already been patched, and unlike previously disclosed flaw in Facebook that exposed personal information of 30 million users, it did not allow attackers to extract information from mass accounts at once.

Microsoft has released out-of-bounds patches for Windows 10 to help protect against new Spectre and Foreshadow CPU attacks.
Spectre variant 4 allows for a Speculative Store Bypass attack, which lets a malicious script manipulate a program into revealing data handled by that program that the script shouldn't have access to, for example, letting a script running in one browser tab read data from another. It affects a range of CPUs, including those from Intel and AMD, IBM's POWER8 and POWER9, and certain ARM processors.
Spectre variant 3a could allow ordinary programs to view system information, such as status flags, that should only be visible to low-level system software, such as device drivers or the operating system kernel.

Phishing works no matter how hard a company tries to protect its customers or employees.
As a user you should be suspicious of the URLs in the email body if it uses URGENT or ACTION REQUIRED in the subject line, even if you are receiving emails that appear safe. ALWAYS double check the links and any documents.
As a company, you should look at educating your users to be cautious about those email phishing and other IT risks.

Some of takeaways from this article:
- 80% of SMB employees believe security is the top concern for their companies, but limited resources prevent them from taking action.
- The biggest obstacles for SMBs in cybersecurity are budget and headcount restraints, but companies can protect themselves by educating employees.

Uunlike all other Spectre variants that require some form of local code execution on the target system. Dubbed "NetSpectre," the new remote side-channel attack, which is related to Spectre variant 1. This issue could allow an attacker to write and execute malicious code that could potentially be exploited to extract data from previously-secured CPU memory, including passwords, cryptographic keys, and other sensitive information.
The NewSpectre attack was fixed by Intel during the initial set of patches for the speculative-execution design blunders.

With the release of Chrome 67, Google has enabled a security feature called "Site Isolation". It adds an additional security boundary between websites by ensuring that different sites are always put into separate processes, isolated from each other. The feature makes it harder for untrusted websites to access or steal information of your accounts on other websites. #SafeComs
