The daffodils at work are ready to bloom...I'm ready for spring, too.

February is spring, right?
I think the trees at Google are confused.

This was taken on a Galaxy Nexus phone, Instant Uploaded to Google+, and edited in Creative Kit. I love the freedom that comes from having the whole process on the web.

Thanks to +Dave Cohen for making me stop to take this photo. I didn't even notice these blossoms until I saw him whip out his phone. :)

Disorienting Depth: Amazing Optical Illusions in Art Galleries

By Steph in Architecture & Design, Graffiti & Drawing

With some simple black markings that mimic the architecture of the gallery walls and windows, artist Regina Silveira makes visitors feel as if they’re walking on air. In an installation called ‘Depth’ at the Atlas Sztuki Gallery in Lodz, Poland, Silveira applied a large-format, digitally generated image to the flat floor surface to make it seem as if the room extended four stories below onlookers’ feet.

This is awesome...but you couldn't get me in it for a million bucks in daylight. Aside from being afraid of heights, I'm more afraid of being seen in a swimsuit, much less displayed like a tropical fish.

4 Incredible Hanging Hotel Pools ... Amusing Planet - "Some hotel pools are more than a place to take a dip. They are designed to make a dramatic impression and heighten the sensations you experience when you swim. ... As infinity-pools started becoming increasingly common, designers have had to come up with something new to up the ante. Recently, cantilevered pool tanks with see-through sides and flooring have started to gain international attention. ..." see all 4: http://www.amusingplanet.com/2012/02/4-incredible-hanging-hotel-pools.html

This reminds me of way back, when I was working as a draftsman for a Vegas set designer, he told me about the show that opened the old MGM Grand. It was this "Cavalcade of Hollywood" thing, and one of the high points was this glass swimming pool they rolled onto the stage for this big underwater ballet. Problem was, they had Doug McCuir designing, who was a movie designer, not a stage designer, and he designed a real swimming pool, 16 feet high, with 8" thich glass. They built it on a concrete floor, then rolled it out for the first tech onto the wooden stage floor, and —

... the thing crashed through the floor. The glass smashed. Water went everywhere, shorting out the electricals and pretty much destroying the elevator system, sending the hotel's opening back by six months.
