This reminds me of way back, when I was working as a draftsman for a Vegas set designer, he told me about the show that opened the old MGM Grand. It was this "Cavalcade of Hollywood" thing, and one of the high points was this glass swimming pool they rolled onto the stage for this big underwater ballet. Problem was, they had Doug McCuir designing, who was a movie designer, not a stage designer, and he designed a real swimming pool, 16 feet high, with 8" thich glass. They built it on a concrete floor, then rolled it out for the first tech onto the wooden stage floor, and —
... the thing crashed through the floor. The glass smashed. Water went everywhere, shorting out the electricals and pretty much destroying the elevator system, sending the hotel's opening back by six months.
