Ron Brugal Siglo de Oro is the most celebrated rum produced in Dominican Republic – it marks a 100-year anniversary of Brugal distillery. It has never been sold in Australia and I would never have laid my hands on this rum if not for a lucky sequence of events which started with a blocked drain and ended at Bargain Hunt Auctions.

It’s getting to that time of the year again when the temperatures rise, the nectar in flowers or the juice of native fruits ferment and the hungry parrots cannot resist, resulting in parrots so inebriated they cannot fly. Is that were the expression as pissed as a parrot comes from?
