The hotel and accommodations receive a low 2 star review, meanwhile the location and settings would receive 5 stars. Great history and place to visit, but there were bad things to report. First, our room had no control of the heat and it was like a sauna all night. Second, I lost a credit card and called the lodge that night I was told one was found. But, that it'd take a day or two for a call back to see if it was mine. Their process requires management to review lost and found items to ensure it is returned to the proper owner...great, i get it....but a credit card has a name on it and they would/could not tell me if it was mine. Then, asking if a manager was on staff today and could look while on the phone, they obliged. After waiting for 5-10 minutes they came back and said could no longer find the credit card. Hmm. Ok, maybe another card was found and returned to the owner. Then I was told they (managers) would look in other places that lost in found items could be stored and get back to me. So far, 5 days later, no call. Needless to say I placed my 'suspended' credit card to 'cancelled' status. Just angry that as important an issue as a lost credit is to a visitor is, it seemed to quite unimportant to them. I've heard from others that Timberline's customer service is pretty poor. I guess if you have the peak to yourself and base client numbers due to the location you can survive with poor service. With better leadership I believe that visitor impression and general reputation could be changed. Third, the food was pretty plain, but the prices were very high. I guess that what you get being at the top, higher food costs. Try the brewery at Gov't camp instead. Our other lodge service experience was very good in the Cascade Dining room and at the bar. Next time we'll likely stay at a Government Camp hotel.

This place is old and did not feel good being there. Very ghetto. The price is good and that's what you get for what you pay.

We wanted a cabin up in Big Bear, were able to book same day, and had a wonderful experience. This place is run by a really friendly fella.

Fendi is awesome, so friendly and accommodating. The cabins are quaint but serves the purpose and the price you can not beat! Cabins are 5min from everything. Definitely going back next winter!
