We've spent our fair share of time behind the dash of Tesla's gorgeous Model S, though there hasn't been an opportunity to push

The font is all blocky for me and the colors are irritating. I know that there were different themes, etc. before. I tried a couple of different themes with the new look, and it was still just not pleasant looking for me.

Ok, warning, this is a public post.

I am all for holding corporations accountable, but I got this petition from change.org, where they are demanding that Bank of American rescind the $5 debit use fee. I don't feel like gathering a bunch of people that are upset about this does a whole lot of good.

What I would propose instead is ditch your big bank. Do you have any requirements for a checking account (interest bearing checking accounts would be a different matter obviously, so please exclude those)?

Switch to a credit union. They are non-profits which means that hey have higher savings rates and lower loan rates. They are generally right in your community, and directly support said community with jobs. Their checking is generally free without any strings attached. They often have perks. Also, their debit/atm cards belong to credit union networks which means you can use any of those atms for free.

My credit union out here in SF (SF Fire) gives me my credit score (ok, "grade") every quarter - for free. They refund me any atm fees that I incur. I also have gotten good interest rates on my auto loans with them. If we could refinance our mortgage, I would probably refinance with them.

Ok, I am done with my bank rant.

I thought there was a good op-ed in the NY Times on the history of interchange fees for checks and later debit cards. Another chapter in banks attempting to circumvent long standing regulations (1913!) by changing the vocabulary (debit card vs check) but not the essence of the transaction. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/07/opinion/debit-card-fees-are-robbery.html

Every dog has his day.

Mexicans lined up to see the Pope drive by. But this dog apparently thinks the crowd is for him.

There is a great website, dogsagainstromney.com that has much more on the story of Seamus, and maybe why having someone with zero emotions (lets avoid the extremes right?) is not what we want in the white house.
Mitt and Ann Romney answered a question about the lingering story of a former Romney family dog, Seamus, in their big exclusive interview with ABC News Monday. From the ABC transcript of the interview...

Empathy is widely recognized by people who are not in politics as a valuable quality to have in those who wield power over us. Pretty sure one of the Republican field would know empathy if it came up and bit the person next to them.
