This past October I managed to track down and score a short interview with Keith Palmer, aka Maxim of The Prodigy (yes, that Prodigy). It took some time to put the interview together while it patiently waited in the archived folder of my mailbox. But here it is! Hope you enjoy...

PAN is a Berlin/NYC based label founded in 2008 by Bill Kouligas. On this Sound Bytes Label Special, Matthew Mercer explores some the latest offerings from Concrete Fence, Helm, Black Sites and Mohammad by this purveyor of the outer-limit pseudo-techno noise-filtered world. http://bit.ly/OJ0M2u

Thanks for doing a Sound Bytes on their work, PAN's definitely become a label watch! This past year The Wire had a Adventures in Modern Music special on them: http://www.thewire.co.uk/audio/on-air/adventures-in-modern-music-25-august-2011 - and the brilliant visual art mag, Frieze, did a piece too: http://frieze-magazin.de/archiv/kolumnen/surround-sound/?lang=en

"4 is much more synthetic, but we wanted to achieve that all-modular synth sound. External effects and edited instruments sound pretty much organic, although we worked with much more abstract elements than before. At the end it was our ambition, that it doesn't sound cold and soulless…" ♫♪ Read entire Headphone Commute Interview with Boozoo Bajou regarding their latest album, titled '4' out on Apollo Records : http://bit.ly/PoInJ2

“Akkord began as a shadowy collective with an espoused passion for mathematics and sacred geometry, crafting intelligent and beautifully oppressive electronic music. ‘Akkord’ blurs the lines between junglist revivalism, smoky ambience, and suctioned dub, with a consistently engaging pulse linking the styles.” ♫♪ Read entire review of Akkord's self-titled release out on Rob Booth's Houndstooth label.

"Lexicon is based on a poem written by a 12-year old boy, Tom, in which he tries to articulate his personal experience of dyslexia. By presenting an imaginary sonic and visual journey through the text of the poem, Lexicon explores not only the challenges, but also the life-affirming creative potential that dyslexia, and a fuller understanding of it, can bring." ♫♪ Dive into a fascinating world of acousmatic music in this review of Andrew Lewis' collection of works titled "Au-delà" out on empreintes DIGITALes : http://bit.ly/PvVus2

What are YOU listening to?
Introduction
Headphone Commute is an independent resource of candid words on electronic, experimental and instrumental music, featuring album reviews, artist interviews, label profiles, and a somewhat-weekly podcast.

The range of covered genres includes electronica, glitch, idm, drum’n’bass, breakcore, dubstep, trip-hop, modern classical, post-rock, shoegaze, ambient, downtempo, experimental, abstract, minimal and everything in between.

HC is not associated with any artist, band, record label, promoter, distributor or retailer covered by the reviews.

There is no hidden agenda behind these words. What you see is what you get. All that means is that we share our love for music because we want to – not because we have to.
