The knight is about 1400 triangles including weapons. Our scenes are generally between 10k tris and 20k tris, and run well on the Galaxy S. Note that these phones are generally not geometry bound--they are much more likely to be slow because of fill rate (e.g. a single poly that takes up most of the screen is slower than a thousand-poly character that is small on the screen). But yeah, 15k per frame is probably a reasonable target.

Wow, some guy translated my article about applying data visualization to understand Resident Evil map design into Korean. Here's the original:

and here's the Korean version:

+Calvin Rien Good point, I hadn't thought of that.
+Gabriel Spencer , +Morgan Jaffit Thanks, glad you liked it. It was one of those problems that I thought about for a long time until one day, out of the blue, I figured out how I could build a decent visualization with a small amount of work.

Played the original on the Amiga which was a great leap in game design those days, but playing the recent Android release did seem like a straight port which is probably OK for lots of people, as for me I was expecting a remake.

Well done on Wind-up Knight! I'm playing it on android. Of course I'm not your usual gamer-use case unfortunately. I found it by seeking out if you had any more words of wisdom after your Google IO talks on java game programming practices for Android. I imagine, given your C++ background that you've reverted to this for your other games, is that correct? ...given the IOS release (unless you use something like PlayN, which doesn't look like it's ready for 3D). I suspect that you think that Java developement will probably take a back seat, given industry practices, or do you think that the PlayN approach will snowball, (indicated by the one man game project Tupsu). Anyway, thanx for your time. Great work!!!

Actually, in movies you have producers and executive producers to act as shit filters (otherwise Lucas would never have been able to make the original Star Wars as good as it turned out...)
