I got really tired of my headphones getting dropped when taking off the HTC Vive headset. I'm jealous of the Oculus Rift's integrated headphones. So I picked up some $22 headphones and modified them with some velcro and a bit of low temperature moldable plastic (Polycaprolactone a.k.a. Friendly Plastic or Thermoplastic) https://www.adafruit.com/products/2504

I just attended a Google IO16 talk about VR from with in AltspaceVR. I loved it. It was great sitting around afterward and chatting with others about the content. There were a few loud breathers that could be easily blocked. And at the very start someone started petting me. An admin kicked the knuckleheads out after a warning. All in all I'll definitely watch more talks this way.

I admit I’m skeptical when it comes to virtual reality. I remember going to the South Florida Fair in 1991. I found my first virtual reality experience waiting for me, just past the pig races and the shifty carnies. I played ‘Dactyl Nightmare‘ in virtual reality for 10 minutes. The experience was disappointing and it scared me. Fast forward 20-plus years and we’re …
