There's a great conversation being built about the QueensWay project in Queens – 3.5 mile abandoned railway that is being studied to turn into a park.

Big fan of Tame Impala and this video makes me love them more. It takes a shift at about 3:20, as the original poster noted.

A little NSFW, but just animation.

Shared in the College Radio community but deserves cross-posting. I know it's only February, buuuut I'm calling this as the best music video of 2013.

Perhaps NSFW, depending? (PG13: animated nudity)

(If you're going to watch this, you should know that ~3:20 is when it gets amazing. I say this with my own attention span in mind.)

Is internet access in the US a luxury or a utility?

"In Hong Kong, you can get a 500Mbt symmetric connection for about $25/ month..."

Susan Crawford on Why U.S. Internet Access is Slow, Costly and Unfair

Susan Crawford, former special assistant to President Obama for science, technology and innovation, and author of Captive Audience: The Telecom Industry and Monopoly Power in the New Gilded Age, joins Bill to discuss how our government has allowed a few powerful media conglomerates to put profit ahead of the public interest — rigging the rules, raising prices, and stifling competition. As a result, Crawford says, all of us are at the mercy of the biggest business monopoly since Standard Oil in the first Gilded Age a hundred years ago.

The one time I edited for Nam June Paik, we were having some communication difficulties. I will always remember his comment: "Oh, you Americans think of time going left to right!"

Mostly, it was the feeling of endless possibilities for experimentation and technological empowerment that was so inspiring.
