Suggesting a terrible idea in order for people to say better ones, aka the McDonald's Theory.
--------
I use a trick with co-workers when we’re trying to decide where to eat for lunch and no one has any ideas. I recommend McDonald’s.

An interesting thing happens. Everyone unanimously agrees that we can’t possibly go to McDonald’s, and better lunch suggestions emerge. Magic!

Hands more telling than faces in #poker? hmm...

I wish that they had also used pro players in the experiment to see of they would have had any differences.
To win at poker, the face must be mastered with the expressionless gaze that gives nothing away. But a study just published in Psychological Science by Michael Slepian of Stanford University and his colleagues suggests that even people with the best poker faces give the game away. They do so, however, not with their heads but with their hands http://econ.st/11LDcnU
