What Are OTC Drugs?

Over-the-counter drugs are medications you can easily buy in groceries and pharmacies without the need for a doctor’s prescription. They are typically safe when taken in recommended doses.

• Common over the counter drugs include:
• Pain relievers
• Motion sickness relievers
• Cough medicine
• Cold medicines
• Sore throat medicines
• Upset stomach medicines
• Fever medicine like ibuprofen
• Antihistamine pills for allergies
• Eye drops
• Nasal sprays
• Imodium for diarrhea
• Rehydration fluids
• Anti-itch and anti-fungal

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or buying medications for a child, consult your doctor first before taking any new drug.

Drink Water

60% of your body is made up of water and every corner in your body needs it to function well. To prevent dehydration, drink around 8 glasses of water a day. Drinking a glass of water can help alleviate thirst and unnecessary cravings in between meals.

How Can You Assemble a Home First Aid Kit?

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t necessarily have to purchase a heavy duty toolbox (like the ones you see on TV). To start off, you can simply make use of a pouch or hard plastic container you already have at home.

Next, you will be in need of these items:

1. Over-the-counter medicine for pain, diarrhea, allergies, fever, etc.

2. Sterile gauze, plasters, and antiseptic

3. Saline eye drops

4. Sore throat remedy

5. Thermometer

6. Scissors

7. Tweezers

8. Petroleum jelly

And once you have them all together, place these in an accessible area!

3 Questions You Need to Ask Your Pharmacist

1. Do you have a generic version of my prescription?
Generic drugs are just as effective (and safe) as their branded counterparts. Aside from that, they are a lot less expensive, too.

2. Does my medication cause any major side effects?
It helps to know if you will be experiencing any discomfort after taking a pill. That way, you will be able to properly pace yourself.

3. Do my pills require special storage?
Some medications may need to be refrigerated to maintain their potency.

Quick Hair Care Tips You Can Add to Your Routine

1. Avoid using hot water to wash your hair because it can damage your cuticles.

2. Slather conditioner only at the tips of your strands because putting it up top can induce product buildup on your scalp.

3. Brush your hair with a wide-toothed comb in the shower because it will make untangling knots easier.

4. Refrain from blow drying your hair because the heat could cause damage to your hair.

Give it a try! You’d be surprised how these tips will make your hair more manageable in the mornings.
