I'm not sure what comment you're addressing in saying that it's petty to say context or intent don't matter, but I don't think it really matters if you're just going to say that something is offensive. You have informed the person, and they are educated. To me a person getting defensive and trying to justify it to the person pointing out the offense, rather than simply acknowledge the impact such a phrase may have, seems like someone kinda insecure that feels the need to prove they're a "good person". Now I don't know what level of distress or outrage this student may have had or faked, but I'm under the distinct impression it wasn't anywhere near what would be reported. I sincerely doubt this has any detrimental effect to the movement on the legal front

funny how I completely misunderstood the problem yet got the answer right. By letter on one side, number on the other, I thought you meant letters on the left, numbers on the right, and the other side of each card was blank, so when presented with the problem, I concluded, in the order the cards were presented, that the rule clearly wasn't being followed; A being a vowel and 7 being an odd number, so make the rule be followed, I'd have to turn or move A or 7 :P

Wow. Listening to this is quite the endurance test. The Martian-Atlantean war, Hebrews coming from space, atomically locked tablets, interdimensional tantric space meditation, some guy alive today who has memories from many thousands of years ago... I don't know how much more crap I can take. Like, this is satire, right?

"Keep an open mind about this, for there is very little proof for what I'm about to say" I lost it laughing when I heard this. As opposed to everything else, that is super substantiated?!

Sex is about chromosomes, except when it isn't. Categories are tricky like that

on its own merits, this does not deserve the amount of shit it gets. I mean, I think the figures are more a tim burton-esque aesthetic than any kind of female ideal and the QTE based gameplay as the graphics are understandable given this is a game on the phone. I mean, it really seems like the hostility is more against Brianna Wu and her remarks critical of #gamergate

its merits as a game are extremely dubious, the story is nonsensical, and the animation and voice acting are absolutely wretched. It's up there with Foodfight in terms of awkwardness.

While I would agree that there is no tenet of atheism relevant to the killings, and we could just shake our fist at the sky saying that this event shouldn't affect the way we are seen, it kind of does. I mean, when an American Muslim is killed by someone expresses these views, it's bound to make the others in the American Muslim community uneasy when it comes to atheists, particularly white atheists. Should it be that way? No. But the American Muslim community could use our solidarity and it'll be better for us and all atheists if we try to build bridges here. Granted, you can make it clear you're an atheist and not have to express solidarity AS an atheist (like you said, you can just do it as a human being) but I'd say what you're complaining about is generally a good thing, assuming we want to improve relations. Even if we say we're not really a group, we will be treated as one. That's just the reality we live in
